Thanks for the advice. Upon her speaking to her employer, they are going to temporarily lay her off. She will continue to work from home doing the odd invoice here and there. Then, when she returns, she will recieve the hours she worked in a later paycheque. They want to ensure she gets the emergency benefits which is awfully nice of them. When this whole thing blows over she is guaranteed work again.
And Canuck, as previously discussed, the emergency care benefit for sure wouldnt count as a form of social assistance, correct? This is technically a form of E.I?
Edit: Upon doing some more research, the government said if you applied for EI, it will automatically transfer over to the emergency care benefit on April 6th - so I seem to have my answer actually. She will wait and apply then.
