Additional documents requested: problems submitting through GCKey

Hi everyone. July 2020 outland applicant here.

I'd like to think my wife and I are pretty far in the process. VO in Hong Kong has recently requested from me (the sponsor) more proof of my period of stay in China.

I've gathered lots of documentation and was all set to upload it on GCKEY but am having some trouble. I'm clicking the area where it says "view submitted application or upload documents" and then the next screen doesn't have any spots to upload docs. It does however say "There are no required documents for this Online Application" but on the home screen it says that they have requested additional docs already. Contradicting itself.
I got this letter on March 10th and deadline is April 10th. I've tried this on both Chrome and Edge.

Anyone run into this before?

same here, seems many people handle by hkvo has this problem,
you can use the webform to submit an issue and attach the doucments,
it will go to hkvo directly,
remember to check the gckey everyday after webform submitted,
in my case, the upload button appear few days later,
the last resort is to mail the documents to hkvo, the address is on the request letter

Ok great, thanks for the tip!
I'm on the website now ready to upload. However it says I can only upload a file that is 2MB or smaller, and all docs must total 3.5MB or smaller. Guess they are behind on the times. All the stuff I have to send is roughly 12MB in total... maybe it's best to send what I think is most crucial for now, and leave a note in my cover letter explaining I have more docs to upload but had issues on GCKey and my alternative, the webform limited me to low MBs

It is a bit behind of them, yes. Your approach is not bad.

But if you can take a half hour to downsize the documents and include them all (possibly in one file or groups of files rather than dozens) it might be better. Less chance they'll come back to you.

There are various programs to do this with pdfs, some of which cost money.

Does the ircc site/link allow you to upload jpegs? I just find them easier to work with (and the software better). For scanned documents, adjusting the quality down and the dots per inch etc can easily shave documents to a quarter to half of the size, remove colour if not critical for more space saving, etc. Getting 12mb to 3mb is not that hard, actually.

And when I do this for most docs, on a normal screen they're indistinguishable from the originals. (You can always offer to send them the larger original scans later if any doubt)
