While many of us are worrying about citizenship, in a part of Canada, Natives are facing a survival situation.

When any youth does suicide, one entire family's future goes bleak. Who is going to take care of those parents? Who is going to be the role model for kids there?

Can we sit here and let this happen? Yes, we read in Discover Canada that Aboriginals are the original/first people to live in Canada.....Do they deserve to be in this crisis? 85% unemployment rate? Oh lord!!

Governments does NOT consider the unemployed Permanent Residents for reporting the country's unemployment Rate.

Probably one of the reasons, why the Citizenship grant process is stretched so long to hide the unemployment ratio. Precious government had admitted immigration is one of the largest source of investment, since immigrants bring with them their life savings to invest here.

Therefore, its complex & inter-related, government does not want to show higher unemployment rate that might discourage new immigrants.

The unemployment rate is for those in incredibly remote areas of the country, it would be interesting to find out the unemployment rate for first Nations within urban areas and towns, etc. I'm sure it's disproportionately higher than all other ethnic groups, but I'm sure it's not 85%.

What first Nations people went through was horrible btw, hopefully FN leaders, rights groups and the government can come together and improve the lives of FNs across the country.

This is simply not true. As shown here (http://www23.statcan.gc.ca/imdb/p2SV.pl?Function=getSurvey&SDDS=3701) the labour force survey is conducted across a sample of people in Canada, regardless of their status. So, PRs, TFWs and everyone else is included. I know this for a fact because I was selected for the survey last year and at no point did they ever ask about my status in Canada.
