Hi there,
I have recently landed in Canada and am staying here for a couple of weeks then go back until I finish off my pending works then move back to permanently settle in Canada.

A lot of people here are telling me that as a landed immigrant I cannot stay outside Canada for more than six months if I want to maintain my PR status. In other words I have to enter Canada within 6 months ( even for 1 day) until I permanently move in.

Have you guys heard of such thing? This is completely news to me!!

The six month rule doesn't exist.

To maintain PR stauts you must live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 rolling years. That is the only rule.

A long time ago there used to be a six month rule. However it is long gone.

There have been no recent changes to the PR residency obligation rules.

If a lot of people are telling you there have been - ask them to send you a link from the official CIC web site that mentions this rule. I'll tell you right now that no one will be able to send you a link because this rule doesn't exist.

No such rule in CIC website. In our case, just entered Canada before our immigrantvisa expires and stayed for a month there and now out of Canada. Still waiting for our PR card to arrive to the address given in Canada. It's been 7 weeks now and praying it will be delivered soon.

Anyone who are waiting for the PR card who are outside of Canada?

Cheers.

Yes. I am waiting for my pr cards.
We landed in Canada on April 3rd and stayed for 15 days, then back to UK

Let's all get connected here for those who are waiting for our PR card so that we can have at least a trend of how long we are going to wait for our PR card.

I'm counting and we are on a 50 days mark already.

It sounds like your friend is confusing Canada and the USA. I believe the USA has a six month rule in effect for PRs. I know my sister-in-law can't vacation in her home country for too long or she can lose her green card.
