apparently yes, Guide is a skilled position, it all depends on the job description. i emailed Human Resources Canada quoting the title and the job description and they said it is skill level 2, a Museum Interpreter kind of job.

the funny part is, alberta job classification specifically excludes Guides for Legislature Buildings from skill level 2, and puts them in the unskilled category, while NOC federal classification (and Human Resources Canada emailing center) contradict here. Unfortunately, I got the positive reply from HR Canada one day too late, when I already rejected the job offer for this very reason- that I found the information on the provincial website that I might not qualify so I didn't want to have problems with CIC in the future.

Hi!! Kabayan

I had a work permit of a retail trade supervisor. I am also working 44 hours a week every two weeks is my payslip in my payslip says 88 hour in two weeks my question is how many payslip should i have before i can apply for canadian experience class?

Thank you in advance

GODBLESS

If you are working at least 37.5 hours per week, you are simply full-time, no need to count hours. You need at least 1 year of full-time employment in the post-grad stream, or 2 years in the temporary foreign worker stream.

Hi!!! Kabayan

How do you apply for post secondary education? i have a skilled work permit and i would like to study to fasten the time frame from two years to 1 year. My other question is if i would take that course or certificate in order to apply a post secondary education did it stakes in the "cic.gc.ca" that you have to study first before the experience so if i take it now my work experiece will not be accounted for am i right? so its much better to wait for the 2 years experience?.

Thank You

GODBLESS

if you would like to apply for postsecondary, you have to go on university website, choose the program and apply (pay the fees, collect reference letters, send your application, which includes personal statement etc.- you'll find this info on universities websites under specific programs in the section "how to apply"). applying is a long process, the deadlines to start in septemeber have mostly passed unless you would like to start school in january 2013. note, that scholarships/assistantships are generally not available for those who start in winter. that means you may have to wait until september 2013 to start school in a program that you like, which will help you pay the fees. the fees for international students are double.

make sure it's going to be a 2 year full-time study, only then it'll count towards getting a PR under CEC.

only experience on post-graduation work permit counts. that means you first have to graduate, then work for 12 months at least, then apply. exclude time spent on job search. the total time would be 2 years + 1 year = 3 years from the start of the university program.

the second option is to work for 2 years full-time (3900 hours) on your current work permit and then apply. the total time is 2 years. if you are already currently working, that time even shortens. just make sure it's a skilled job.

if i were you, i'd choose the second option. on the other hand, if your work permit expires soon and there's not much chance you are going to have it renewed, then it makes sense to apply for schools. then it'll help you get a student permit, stay in the country, start networking, and lead to a good job potentially.
