IELTS is not required till you pass the exam, after passing CRNE and for registration you need it. General module is accepted by CNO. Speaking 7 and others 6.5.
you can take MELAB that is an easier exam in Canada too.

thanks
all the best

MELAB and CELBAN are available in canada. they can be used instead of IELTS, actually many applicant prefer them to IELTS. but if you can do something in advance why not? if you have time take IELTS now and save time.

dear friends

i wanted to apply for a cno registration from my home country...i applied for a cno application package on august 2011.but that time i couldn't manage to sent that package. i have afew qustions regarding my application

1. This application package would be enough for me to apply for CNO registration?

2. Is this acceptable demand draft of the payment?

3. i am going to write ielts on next month.is it necessary to send again ielts after passing the exam...?

thanks in advance...

hello fellow nurses, good to join this forum/thread. I see that most of you have applied for registration with cno...is ontario better? actually i applied to crnbc [british columbia] for registration, was requsted to do SEC, i travelled for the assessment which was not easy at all, i did my best .eventually i was asked to do a 1yr graduate nurse re-entry program b4 i sit for crne...after which i will be registered fully[thank God they dint send me back to do 4yr nursing program all over]..lol.
I have from now to 2014 to meet that requirment..hopefully I would be granted the PR this year so i could apply to one of the universities and also pay less as a resident. But now am thinking of applying to cno as it seems there are jobs in ontario than bc..what do u think?plz advice

its a good option to apply for CNO as there is no SEC .But i think CNO is very slow in assessing becoz of huge work load .....

@malenurseindia thanks for the quick reply. why i didnt initially go for cno was the fact that i heard they only accept nurses with Bsn for registration. i have diploma RN ,am not sure if my 11yrs nursing experience can make them grant me the eligibility to sit crne and later i will apply to york university for the 2yr Bsn program....some of my friends said i should apply for registration as LPN instead of RN,what do u think?

u go for LPN if u have diploma ....becoz its little bit easy to pass through after getting that there r many ways to convert to rn

Dear Friend ,
That is correct CNO is accepting anly the BSn for registration as RN but you can apply for LPN registration. The process will take around 5 months based on how much your mother university will be able to send your verified documents on time. The reason that most of the people are applying through CNO is that ,in Ontario the job vacancies are higher than other areas. You can check it through visiting of some sites like:
www.canadianurse.com
In the other hands , most of the time only the passing in registration exam is enough and there is no need to pass any other course.
Good Luck

Hi Guys
Just a quick update, I am a diploma nurse and I just received my eligibility to sit the CRNE in Ontario, so CNO do accept nurses with diplomas, it all really depends on your work experience. It took CNO 10 months from the time they had received all my documents to complete the asessment. I applied oct 2010, all documents received by CNO May 2011, results 24 Feb 2012.

Those with diplomas, if you have the experience it can happen. I now have BScN equivalency.

Olga

congrats olga64 for ur success

anybody applying for Alberta...? how much time does it take for processing application to take CRNE?

Hi Olga

Hi Friends,

I will be landing in Toronto on March 27th. Looking forward to see the new place and getting ready for the new experience. Thought I am excited, a little worried about the survival jobs. All the while being in nursing, I was just thinking what many jobs we can do actually.

Can anyone who is already there and not into active nursing (waiting for assessment from CNO to take up CNRE etc) are doing exactly? What jobs can I take up and how soon can I find something?

My CNO process started in Sep 2011 and after the initial acknowledgement, I got the second package with B4 forms on Feb 27th 2012. Now I am sending these to my previous employers and registration council etc. Hectic time finishing all the paper work. But I am happy I got the package at the right time as I can finish sending all that before I leave India.

Then my plan is with the survivial job I will wait for the CNO assessment (hopefully a positive one) after which I will do CNRE then take up nursing again in Toronto.

I want to thank ena for guiding me in this forum. I do not know if you are still active in this forum.

Seniors please share and advice which will be very helpful.

Yes Olga64 you are right and all the best to you. Yes experience counts and you must be currently working as a nurse also. I am also a diploma nurse and have applied for RN registration only. Now sending my second set of forms. Hoping for a positive assessment in few months. You give me hope.

Lika, Try to send along a GOOD STANDING CERTIFICATE from ur last employer. It helps a lot.
