hey
My wife is Canadian Citizen and if she pregnant from 3 months and living out side from long time, as i know for OHIP cover she have to wait 3 months after landing but in between any private company will make insurance policy for her if she pregnant already ?
or what other option? she will stay with her family in start in Ontario.
reg

No insurance company will provide any prenatal coverage care as it is considered a pre-existing condition. Your wife will have no choice but to pay any medical cost out of her own pocket in the first 3 months.

However if she were to move back to Canada in Alberta, she would be covered from first day of arriving. An option to consider.

An option only as long as she is planning to remain in Alberta for some time (six months after the birth should be good).

We've seen two stories on this forum where someone came to Alberta when they first landed, had a baby relatively soon after landing, and then left the province shortly after the baby was born to live in another province. Alberta went after them for the costs of the care for abusing the system.

our planing to live with her family in Ontario for starting months so we will not go to other places also if she is not pregnant and want to make private health cover and after that she pregnant will private insurance will cover till OHIP like she can check up and x ray etc for pregnancy care.

Most insurance plans don't cover pregnancy related costs at all - even if the person isn't pregnant yet.

There are some insurance policies that cover some pregnancy related costs - however the person cannot be pregnant when they apply for the insurance and I also believe these insurance plans are relatively expensive.

May be i'm reading this wrong, but if your wife is not pregnant wait until she has full health care before even thinking of it. It will cost you a fortune to get health care, and as others have said medical insurance won't cover pregnancy.

If she is not pregnant yet, you can indeed find private health insurance to cover it, but you will have to look around a bit. It's not that much more, especially if you are just buying 3-6 months worth.

Good luck with that. Getting pregnant is a planned incident. Getting into an accident and getting hurt is not planned. There is a big difference.

Insurance companies are not going to offer prenatal care as part of package since they viewed getting pregnant is a planned event.

Sort of like buying life insurance just in case since you plan to skydiving in the next 2-3 months?

Ya you need to be super careful about this as any TRAVEL insurance policy will have a million fine print items when it comes to getting pregnant after getting the policy. They may have a long waiting period after the policy takes effect when you are then "allowed" to get pregnant (so people don't buy it as soon as they get a positive home pregnancy test), and also most travel policies will not cover routine costs such as regular blood tests, doctor check-ups, ultrasounds, etc.

Travel policies are intended to cover EMERGENCIES. So even if one gets pregnant after opening a policy and are covered, then they should expect the policy to only cover emergency-related costs of the pregnancy (like rushing to the ER due to excessive bleeding), and not the day-to-day routine costs.

If you want a policy to cover all potential pregnancy costs, then that is more of a general health insurance plan policy (like the ones for people with no work benefits that cover regular dental checkups), and not a travel policy. And these are incredibly more expensive, and may only cover the person in the country they opened the policy in.

ok got it with thanks..

In Quebec, the services related to pregnancy are part of exceptions and are covered by healthcare from the day of arrival, despite the 3 month waiting. Maybe its the same in Ontario.
Your best bet would be to call ServiceOntario infoline: 1-866-532-3161 toll free in Ontario, from 8:30am to 5pm.
