Well if your sponsor passes them all, then yes your on the right track...

For the final decision, the requirements sponsored person need to pass are:

1. Spouse or common-law partner of a sponsor.

2. Cohabitating with sponsor in Canada.

3. Temporary resident status - May be waived using public policy, However, status still needed to work or study in Canada. (Your status just needs to be current, visitor, student permit or work permit. Or applied for with the sponsorship application).

4. Sponsorship submitted (and approved)

5. Is FN excluded from the class due to R125 provisions– excluded relationships?

Number 5 is to do with family members and not listing them when you sent the application. Most people can ignore that one.
Actually, I am the sponsor: I am a Canadian citizen, and my husband is an american.
And it looks like we meet all the conditions. :)

Btw this information I'm giving is correct, official etc. I took it from the official Manual for Spouse or Common-law partner in Canada, it is issued by the CIC. (69 Pages)

It actually tells you step by step and it shows you the process as a chart. It also includes sponsorship in Quebec. It is what the CIC officers will use.

... ...

Number 5 is to do with family members and not listing them when you sent the application. Most people can ignore that one.
I was wondering how many research you been doing for all these information you got here, now the cloud is clear, you read all 69 pages of that, amazing!!!

I never got the heart to read all the Manual they listed on the site, only refer to the guide when I not sure about what's the questions about.

Now I know who to ask if I got confuse again :p

Lol well that is how I found out the process. Ask whenever you want I don't mind.
I'm starting to think I should help people with immigration. They get paid well :) and I like solving problems.
The owner of this site is smart, have you seen that it is run by an immigration company, Campbell Cohen.

You actually find some interesting stuff out on the manual.
I also found the manual the doctors use for doing the medicals for immigration.

They have to renew their contract every 5 years. Sometimes they hire medical centres for only a short period of time just to do specific medical exams for the CIC.

It also has the form the doctor fills in, like one part is their report on you, their findings after the examination. My doctor was laughing and joking with me, asking where I was from. He said are you generally healthy, I said yes, no problems. I would have liked to see his report. He thought I was fit and healthy (btw not fit in that way, there are UK people on here!).

I also didn't know but I found out that the rule for excessive demand on the medical system does not apply to spouses but all other family members and other visa types the rule does apply.

Refugees are lucky, they get their CSQ free. They get there CIC application free.
Then they get social allowance after and they are priority cases!

Some of the fees we pay, will pay for refugees. In terms of refugees though both Canada and the UK have very similar laws.

I have a question, do you mean the manuals for the sponsored person. Like how to fill in the forms and other info.

Or do you mean the manual on this site:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/index.asp

I mean the one on this site.

It is IP 8 Spouse or Commonlaw Partner in Canada.

It bascially tells CIC officers how to do their job...

That's one way to put it... I feel we are the lucky ones, Canadian spouse, being from visa exempt countries and being able to afford the fees etc. That's good to know that refugees get that extra help.

So far I have read FW 2, FW2, IP 1, and OP11 will get to IP2 and IP8 this weekend. I know that it cant speed or change the process but just knowing all the information and how the CIC makes its decisions has removed all the stress I had about the whole process!

Yes, I meant the sponsored person manuals, never know the IP manuals and there're so many files there . Seems it's useful info the cross check if I missed anything on my package, should find some time to read at least the IP8.

I thought I was the hard working one (comparing to my husband only, who is the sponsor), he basically left most of the fom filing, documents preparing, reseaching, reading guideline and calling CIC jobs to me. :-[

Yeah it is useful to check what the CIC do to process your file. To be honest you'll probably be fine but it defintley helps you to know whether everything you sent them is correct.

I think I did a good job with the application, I even put each section in plastic wallets with front covers, with title and listing what was in each wallet. I didn't put it in a file as they say not to, instead I used a prong fastener. I even stapled each form etc. Each front cover had some nice Canadian thing on the front! For the confirmation of payment, I put a large dollar. I know for one of the front covers I put a hockey picture. Every one had maple leaves around the side or scattered about.

I know how you feel about having to do the application yourself but you got through it and got it done! :) But I can't complain to much as I didn't help much for the immigration application in the UK for my fiancee and she did help me with some parts.

Good question! If I were you (or if/when we get to this stage) I would definitely call CIC and ask.
