@cooldoc06: that's what they said explicitly, reducing the cap to take care of the backlog. as far as I know the last update requests were for October files, nothing has came in after that. I think we'll see some real progress in the following months

Regarding the new regulations, its a great step to reduce the backlog, however, that doesn't mean our backlog. You see, after the new regulations, instead of having one backlog, they made a mistake of generating several backlogs:

Backlog 1: Old applicants until Feb 2008
Backlog 2: New applicants between Feb 2008 and June 2010 (1st Ministrial Instructions 38 Occupations)
Backlog 3: New applicants between July 2010 and June 2011 (2nd Ministrial Instructions 29 Occupations + Cap 20000)
Backlog 4: Not yet piled up, New Applicants between July 2011 and probably June 2012 next new instructions (29 Occupations + Cap 10000).

Of course the new measures will help reduce backlog, but which backlog? Its a matter of prioritization to them.

xaxar: Your BFD seems to be of type "Tentative", which means that its like pending, its like they didn;t know what to set so they set it 31-12-2011, can you please share your timeline so we can analyse your case abit further.

Guys, I got my CAIPS file and BFD is 31/12/2011

Xanar, I got my CAIPS two months ago (about 4 months after sending my updates!), and the BFD was the same as yours, also they even hadn't evaluated my scores and all of them except age was ZERO! I don't know why because all my other friends who got their caips result had a BFD for the next 2-3 months and they could find their points in their caips.
what about yours? have they evaluated your scores yet?

Yes, they sent update letters to the most of Oct 2006 applicants as well.
about the Tentative type, what do you think the problem is? I have the same result, do you think if I apply again for CAIPS , it will be possible to see another BFD, or it's permanent?

Positive, the October ones I know about have received their UL in December 2010/January 2011

I applied in Sep 2006,got UL in Sep 2010 and sent my docs in Nov 2010. they received my docs in 16th Dec 2010.

My docs has not been screened yet and no points evaluated.

oh dear, that's not good. you and Sep06 have the same condition. maybe there is something in your specifics that has caused the hold up? specifics that both of you share? because we've seen caips notes from other 2006 applicants that have received their points in January, so they were reviewing files alright in that period

I don't know what's the problem. I'm civil engineer with 6 years of site experience, I didn't go to military service, I have IELTS 7.5 and I have family in Canada and I estimate that my score is about 74... but still they haven't screened my scores...
What about you Xaxar?

Guys its all about scheduling, most probably they have scheduled reviews according to Quarters.

Like for example if someone applied between Jan 2006 and March 2006, they already reviewed their file.
If someone applied between April 2006 and July, they have another BFD range
and If someone applied between August and October 2006, they forwarded them to next year. (31-12-2011 means 2012)

The above is of course all assumptions.

Sep06 yes there might be a big change that you find another BF'D date and some fields filled.

Guys also note that September 2006 marked the introduction of a new "Simplifed Application Form" process. Might this be also a reason?
Nothing is clear at that point except that we only know about 1 case who got medicals, we need more cases in order to notice a trend.

and we also know of an Iranian September 2006 applicant updated in 9th of December and received his passing points on January 20th with a BFD of March 2011 (at the time of his caips report), an exception maybe...

every case is specific by itself.

Caips, if ordered at a certain time, might not give us anything, if you postpone 1 week for example, it might give you everything.

One more 2005 Iranian applicant, who sent his/her medicals in Nov. 2010, received his passport request.

If I'm not mistaken, more than 80% of 2005 applicants are already in Canada and these are the remaining guys. Therefore, next year this time more than 80% of us 2006 applicants should be in Canada and the remainder should be receiving passport requests. Am I right?

You are right but wait nothing is wrong very soon you get letter.i am also apply 2006 September and alldocument send with landing fee march 2010.

Well I am a Civil and Mining Engineer living and working in Australia right now. I changed my address since I sent my docs to Warsaw and I sent them my new address for couple of times but they didnt change it through the online system. I recon that my application is still on hold until they finalize earlier applicants cause I beilive there are still lots of applicant from 2005 and 2006 without any news from Warsaw. Another thing that all of us have to consider is that 68 months. Thats why January 2006 applicant got their medical or their BFD is in this year. So dont worry and live life happily you will all get your visa by then.

Dont forget they sent our files to Warsaw to expedite otherwise in Damascus it might took even more than 70 months.

I applied as self emplyed August 2006, got Caips a few months ago and they didn't do anythign on my file, but I sent a letter to Damascus when I changed my address and they updated it fast. but my file has seen no progress not points not security check nothing.
oh just remembered, I asked them a few months ago why my file nothing on it while all my friends with the skilled worker are at Warsaw, they replied that they are following minister instructions!!!
