183 days (minimum) per year in 4 out of 6 years.

Hey peeps,

Another question regarding the 183 days per year. Does the 183 or 6 months stay per year have to be continous? or can we stay say 3 months, then go for a trip and come back and finish the balance 3 months within the same year?

today my immigration consultant said its clearly mentioned online that the 183 days (or 6 months) has to he continuous at a stretch, but i couldnt find it anywhere! can anyone confirm please?

This will happen someday after the Royal Assent. The Governor in Council will determine the effective date for ditching the 183 days requirement.

Very little sections of the amendments of Bill C-6 will be effective upon Royal Assent (183 days rule is NOT one of them)
