Item 10.b) in the current (06-2018) citizenship application form asks if the applicant was PRESENT in any particular country a total of 183 or more days during the FOUR (4) years preceding the application. If the response to this item is "yes" the application and guide instruct the applicant to list any such country in the chart provided and to submit a police clearance or certificate from that country WITH the application.Hi Folks, I landed in Canada in Oct 2015 and will be completing my 1095 days soon. As per the cic website if we have lived more than 183 days in past 5 years outside of Canada we need to provide police clearance. In that case I need to produce police clearance? Can someone please confirm?
The instruction is straightforward and should need NO interpretation or elaboration.
Clarifications:
-- the relevant time period (for police certificate with application requirement) is FOUR years, not five
-- this is based on days PRESENT in a country, NOT days the applicant "lived" in the country
-- this is NOT about being outside Canada but being present in one or more specific countries other than Canada
-- this is about being required to submit a police certificate WITH the application; IRCC can still request (later in the process) a police certificate even if the applicant spent less than 183 days total in a country
-- there is a drop down instruction (a "help" button) in the application which contains the same information and examples as the instruction guide which further explains when an applicant needs to check "yes" and submit the certificate

Overall Reminder: Carefully read and follow the instructions. They require very little if any interpretation.
