yesIcan,
First you have to become member of the society, and that does not need any ref from any one in Canada or current ISP designation holder.
I called up CIPS ON office (905-602-1370) and confirm this. Total fees for the memebership is $175 ( for people living outside Canada don't add tax).
I had sent my app to CIPS canada, waiting for the membership kit.

At any time you need to have membership, yes I agree for ISP you need someone from canada to give us ref. which I don't think so possible in any international candidate ( one can call them up and find out other way out)

Hope this helps

omm, i think you are getting confuse.
this ISP membership is NO WAY related to CIO/CHC (they donot care if you are a member or not)
this thread is to get prepared for the sequence of events (say finding job) post acquiring PR status.

hope it helps.

cheers boltz.

pv, wht I understood from your post is that we can become a member of CIPS while outside canada but won't get ISP status untill we find a reference from within canada. any idea what is the title of basic membership ??

hi friends
i want to fill work experience part (number 11) in economic class form (schedule 3) and i dont know how should i fill it considering that i have 3 years full time work and 2 years part time (that 2 years part time is equivalent to 1 year fulltime) . should i check the '1 year' box for 2 years part time job (it means that i have 1 year full time) or i must check '2 years' box for 2 years part time job ?
(i mean ,should i write the number of full time work experience so i calculate part time job into full time and write 1 year OR i should write all numbers of work no matter part time or full time)

thanks for immidiate reply

yesICan,
By becoming member of this society , will not earn any designation. But this is mandatory if you have to earn ISP (Information Systems Professional) or any other status
yes, we can earn ISP status from outside canada also.. I am in process of getting some more details on this and once I have something to share will surely let this group know.

Hi All,

I'm an IT Infrastructure Project Management and ITIL Service Management professional with 9 yrs of exp. I have completed both ITIL v2 and v3 Foundation certificates. I just thought I would let you know if you are also into ITIL related fields. There is a group called ITSMF which is an international body of ITIL professionals. it would be good to register with them as well.

http://www.itsmf.ca

ITSMF is one of the groups mentioned under the SFIA list and they are also the group which contributes to the ITIL Body of Knowledge.

Just my 2 cents worth!

All the best and God Bless

Cheers,
Rishab

Hi,

I have 9+ years of IT experience. I have done B.com (pass) – Delhi University (Correspondence), MCA - Sikkim Manipal University (Correspondence).

Currently i am working in a global firm as a project manager performing all the required roles and responsibilities under 0213 category. But my designation is a Team Leader.

Would like to know, about the below points:

Education points:
Can apply under 0213 category for immigration to Canada:

I am getting mixed replies from the consultants all over the world.

Thanks in advance,
Leoenjoys

If your roles and responsibilities match the requirement of 0123 (and you are able to prove it), then the designation of a Team Lead will not be an issue. Note that you will have to prove that you and in a *0123* role for at least the last one year.

Hi All,
A first timer here to this forum.
I have around 9.5 years experience in I.T (Java/J2EE). I'm currently an lead/technical consultant performing some of the responsibilities as listed under NOC 0213 though my designation is Senior Consultant. I believe more than the designation its the role that matters. At least that's what i was told by some immigration consultants i'd talked to.

I have a few doubts:

1. I have the experience letters and relieving orders from all my employers. However, as is the case typically in India, i do not have detailed reference letters from any of my employers detailing my responsibilities and job duties. The relieving/experience letters i have only mention the tenure of work and my desgination. And it will be very difficult for me to get the reference letters in that format from my current employer as well as the previous ones (for say, the last 4 years). How can this be handled? Can i get the reference letters signed by peers/colleagues from the companies i have worked for, or does it necessarily have to be only from my reporting managers?

2. I'm more or less happy with my present job and i have a kid under 2 years. The reason i'm intending to apply for migration is because i'm not saving much dough here and i also think settling there would be better in the long term. This being the case, it would be a considerable risk i'd be taking by quitting a secure job in search of the unknown with the promise of greater rewards. What i'd like to know from the people here is, how is the market for I.T people (especially Java/J2EE in the healthcare domain)? As seen from people who have already been there, done that, on a rough estimate, how much time would it typically take before landing a job there? Do they look for certifications (Sun, PMI etc) or anything additional we might need apart from our relevant work experience?

3. Though the application is under the "manager" category as listed under 0213, does it have any bearing once we land there and seek jobs? In other words, is there any restrictions on employers there on hiring people under the federal skilled workers visa only for certain positions?

4. Assuming I get the PR, is it possible (i know theoretically it is but i mean practically) to apply for jobs from India itself so that when I go there for the first time after approval, i already have a job offer?

I have a few more questions but i guess this should do for starters :)

Thanks in advance

3- You can look for both technical and management position.
4- Ideal situation would be if you keep your current job and find new one in Canada (Challenging but possible).
Good luck.
