    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

Silly question with apologies to those with serious ones: For those that attended a virtual ceremony, is there a way to request the little souvenirs / gifts for oath-taking? I feel like I missed out on little momentos that would have been very special and significant to me. I don't have my...

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

Finally received the certificate... no email from IRCC. It was just after checking the website many times, it suddenly downloaded :) Good luck to all!

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

that's wonderful. I was also hoping to get it quickly and sent in the form within an hour or two of the ceremony. But no sign of it yet. Do they email you that its available to download or do you just need to checking the portal? Maybe it'll take me a couple of days... but it'd be good to know...

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

Had my oath ceremony yesterday - virtual sadly, instead of in-person. It's really heartbreaking to cut up your card :( and end up without any valid federal document. Others in my boat: when does the e-certificate become available.

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

Normally after the tracker is updated for an oath ceremony, how long does it take for people to receive the official invite? Are most invites these days for in-person ceremonies or for virtual ceremonies? I am curious as I wait. :)

    Canadian Passport in person timeline

Any recommendations for who to use as a guarantor? I'm quite confused. Also, has anyone successfully used non-Canadian references? I want to ask friends in the US.

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

I received an email today about how I can download my citizenship certificate. There is a code to create my account on IRCC and its written that the certificate will be available 2-5 days after the oath. Have others received it too? Still no update on the oath - neither on the tracker, nor by...

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

A question for all: Do people receive an email saying that their application has been approved prior to the oath ceremony / after LPP have completed?

    December 2023 - Citizenship Applications

Just as a side note... it seems that they ask fingerprints from very few applicants. I wasn't asked, for example. So, it may just be a waste of your time...

Help with Iraqi PCC / Non-Conviction Certificate

I just realized that I need to obtain an Iraqi PCC for my citizenship application. I spent some time in Iraq for work and got stuck there for about 6 months due to COVID-19 lockdowns. The process appears to be really complicated. I would be grateful for any advice: - Who / how to choose a...

Is meeting naturalization residency obligations a hardship for you? Why?

Such a great example - thank you for sharing @GuyanaGirl - this one makes a lot of sense and was one scenario that I hadn't thought of. I can imagine that there are truckers that have been PRs for long periods of time and have not been able to naturalize. I do recognize that there are people...

Is meeting naturalization residency obligations a hardship for you? Why?

Thanks for your thoughts. I will not delve into the various tangential assumptions / insinuations that you've made here about a pretty genuine interest in better understanding different experiences that people face. For brevity's sake, I will only emphasize one point that was always at the...

Is meeting naturalization residency obligations a hardship for you? Why?

Grateful if you can share why your acquaintances decided to give up their PR. What were their reasons for struggling with physical presence requirements? Edited: .... actually I think you added to your answer - so neither had any ties to Canada. It was not just the physical presence requirement...

Is meeting naturalization residency obligations a hardship for you? Why?

To give you some perspective: physical presence and continuous residency are two different metrics. US for instance requires continuous residence, but much less physical presence. There are many countries that require tax residence, instead of physical presence. Even in Canada, this has been a...

Is meeting naturalization residency obligations a hardship for you? Why?

Yes its true, this forum is full of people dying to get to Canada - so it's a skewed set of profiles. But I'm asking PRs, not applicants. Nonetheless, if you just read the PR obligations threads, you can see the number of people struggling to even meet PR obligation requirements - forget...

Is meeting naturalization residency obligations a hardship for you? Why?

Hey - thanks for all the comparisons. Canada has a declining naturalization problem. I am asking this question from people for whom this is a hardship, not to those for whom it is not. Perhaps, my question is not relevant for you. Thanks still for offering your perspective.

Is meeting naturalization residency obligations a hardship for you? Why?

Hi All, I am trying to better analyze in terms of policy if the physical residency requirements (3 out of 5) are problematic to achieve for certain immigrants and why. - Personally, I have an international career and progressing professionally requires me to travel constantly. As a result...

Is meeting residency obligations difficult for you? Why?

No. I am referring to naturalization, not merely maintaining PR obligations.

Is meeting residency obligations difficult for you? Why?

Thanks for sharing. It is not hard for you, so my question is not addressed to you. Also, if Canada is your home, why would you mention the US? I don't care about the US. Thanks for your thoughts. All the best.
