You can use your passport and travel to Canada if you are from visa free country. Otherwise you will not be able to board a plane. Why don't you wait a few days and apply for a rush passport? It takes 1-2 days to process if you show your tickets.

If you are applying today it makes sense. With the new bill they will not accept any time you spent in Canada before getting your PR status.

They mostly check US stamps and entrance/exits matching information they received from the States. I did not remember a few day trips but I have stated this in my application. Had no problems whatsoever. No RQed.
