I think for the most part it's about not enough resources. That said, I'm sure there are some quotas they try to stick to. Most of the wait time is when the application is just sitting there not being touched. After the initial spouse approval, I believe the applications just sit in piles...
It's only been 3 1/2 months? I'd say wait at least another 2-3 months. If you order notes now it'll likely just say that they're sitting in a pile with all the others.
We applied outland because the travel option was important to us. With outland you don't get a work permit though. You'll have to weigh the pros/cons. I would agree with aquakitty though, outland will give her that option, whereas inland she would put the application in jeopardy if she left and...
If you were able to continue the long distance, you could do outland and remain in Texas (or visit once like you mentioned). Outland is quicker and allows you to come and go with more ease. Some applications will go through in 5 months, most 7-9 months... obviously other applications can get...
Maybe wait for another reply as well but I'm pretty sure that all you need are photocopies of the passports... It's definitely odd that they mentioned the passport and prepaid envelope though. I wonder if that part was a copy/paste job.
If it's a week that's okay, you shouldn't have any problems. If it's a month-6 months, you'd likely be held for questioning and they'll want bank statements and evidence that you will return (much better to apply for a visa for longer visits ).
I wholeheartedly agree with the advice given. I'm glad you've taken it to heart, bloewen4.
Why not take it one step at a time? Meet, and then see how you two interact. If it's all you thought it would be, that's awesome. Realise the "honeymoon" stage of a relationship is quite delayed because...
Sunset, I only had to have one medical in the 19 month ordeal I went through. I think it's hit or miss. I have no idea why they choose to extend or choose to re-medical.
Ineffable. It is fine to be visiting your wife and have an outland application in process. I would change it on ECAS (make...
I would try the call centre until you find someone who will give you an answer. Say you have DM and have for nearly 2 months and wanted to make sure CoPR was sent out "in case it got lost in the mail," or something. They should be able to tell you that information (provided you get a decent...
After you land with your CoPR go to a government office where you can get your SIN (bring the signed CoPR) and you'll be able to work just like any other Canadian (they give you the number at the office itself, no waiting). After that you aren't required to do anything special or update CIC...
If you check ecas you should be able to see "In Process" and eventually "Decision Made." That's generally a good sign that they will be sending out your CoPR shortly. Some call centre agents will be able to tell you if you were approved and if/when the CoPR was sent out AFTER "Decision Made"...
Weird. I would just bring whatever you have. I had a SIN card that had an expiry date (those begin with a 9) because I was on a work permit in Canada. Maybe they meant that you should bring that if you have one. I brought mine to the CIC office after landing to make sure it would be linked to my...
I don't think it's unrealistic. Obviously you have to be prepared in the event some more info is needed and you have to wait for the actual CoPR to get to you, but I think it's fairly realistic. Maybe not worth quiting or giving notice on your apartment or anything, but I'd be packing and making...
I know, story of my life too. Fill out the same forms or type of forms for visitor permits, study visas, work permits, visitor extension permits, PR application, etc. I'm so glad I'm done having to really go through much more of that.
Wow that's terrible. I went through Lewiston at rush hour and it took about 45 minutes because there were other people there. Very friendly to deal with. I have to think that a lot of paperwork and processing gets done behind the scenes as it really doesn't look like the officers are doing much...
Ugh, that stinks! I think you've likely provided enough financials for your husband, Gemmie. You'd think all they'd need to do is call up ODSP and say, "is this person receiving ODSP right now? Are they going off ODSP anytime soon?, etc." I sometimes wonder if some officers have little...
