IP and move planning

Once you've received IP, is it too unrealistic to begin planning for your landing? I know that the IP to DM/COPR average (amongst US applicants being processed in Ottawa) is a little inaccurate, but any opinions on the subject would be great. It's getting a little harder than normal to function happily being apart from my Fiance after 5 years now. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but nonetheless. Timeline below if that helps:

I don't think it's unrealistic. Obviously you have to be prepared in the event some more info is needed and you have to wait for the actual CoPR to get to you, but I think it's fairly realistic. Maybe not worth quiting or giving notice on your apartment or anything, but I'd be packing and making arrangements

Thanks for your input. I won't be giving notice at my job or anything, but I did want to know if it was a good idea to start packing things I know I won't be using (certain clothes for example), as well as arranging travel plans.

I wouldn't be booking any flight yet. But you can certainly pack.

One other question, regarding marriage. Is there anything specifically I'd have to do if, after landing and settling in, my fiance and I take a quick trip to the court house to be legally married? I've seen people mention some form you have to fill out and send once getting married.

You are not required to update CIC if you marry after landing. The people you've read about got married BEFORE becoming a PR.

After you land with your CoPR go to a government office where you can get your SIN (bring the signed CoPR) and you'll be able to work just like any other Canadian (they give you the number at the office itself, no waiting). After that you aren't required to do anything special or update CIC about anything. Wait for your PR card to allow you to travel by air back into the country (though apparently it's not much of an issue for visa-exempt countries).
