Hi my girlfriend will be married soon if all things go as planned. I will apply to sponsor her after this. We are wondering if she can leave the country for short times during either an inland or outland sponsorship? Would she have trouble at the border re-entering Canada? She is from Germany, her parents are getting older and she may need to go and help them for two weeks if their health declines. Thanks

With outland you can leave and re-enter like a regular visitor. With inland you are supposed to be in Canada the whole time. She can leave, but if for some reason she is not let back in the country, the application will be cancelled.

We applied outland because the travel option was important to us. With outland you don't get a work permit though. You'll have to weigh the pros/cons. I would agree with aquakitty though, outland will give her that option, whereas inland she would put the application in jeopardy if she left and was denied upon re-entry (if that happens, they toss out the inland application).
