Had to get a new passport, how do I contact the CIC?

You should contact the LA visa office, if that is where your case is. I'd recommend using the case specific enquiry http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/los-angeles.asp I renewed my passport during the application process and sent a copy via the case specific enquiry and no...

sending Original Documents to Immigration office is safe??

It does depend on the Visa office I believe. Just make sure to keep copies of anything you send. My office did return all original documents to me, including pictures, but I know not all the offices do.

Bringing my wife to Canada while waiting for application approval

I am a US citizen and I came to 'visit' while my PR finished processing. We drove up together in my car, and brought my cat and what items I could fit into my car. We didn't have any problems and I was granted a 6 month visitor record. Visiting implies you are coming to stay with someone else...

    Preparing for the BIG move

Sorry to hijack the thread but if I may ask, what US bank are you using? Do they let you easily transfer money back and forth between your US bank & Canadian bank? I've had a hard time with that. I still have my US account but the only way my Canadian bank (TD) can deposit money to it is a wire...

    Preparing for the BIG move

Congrats! Nice to see another person going to Winnipeg! I immigrated to Winnipeg from Texas and I must say the summers can still get pretty warm in Winnipeg. You will definitely want summer clothes for summer. More importantly you will want a good Winter coat and boots. I'd suggest just buying...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Oh, I hadn't heard that. Definitely comply with whatever they request! I wonder why they would request the actual passport when they don't affix anything to them anymore. *shrug*

Does anyone know how to change last name after you landed in Canada????

I thought it was going to be a heap of hassle to change it during the processing, especially since I was travelling back and forth all the time. I kind of wish I had just done it then, as it does seem to be a heap of hassle now. LOL I don't have to take his last name, I just want to, archaic...

Does anyone know how to change last name after you landed in Canada????

I am landed and kept my maiden name for the time being. I didn't want to deal with switching it until after everything was complete. When I got my SIN card I inquired about the necessary steps to change my name - I was informed that I would first have to request my name change on my PR Card...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

They don't actually require the physical passport from US applicants anymore. They specify you can send in copies of it. I only sent them copies of my passport. I would assume it is for ID purposes.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Congrats!! :) And yea, the COPR says not for travel. I think they want to make sure people aren't thinking it is a valid travel document. (ie - passports and such are still necessary). They don't put anything in the passport anymore for US applicants. When you take the COPR to land, they give...

    fieldprint.com ?

I am not sure as to the answer to this yet. I inquired about using the FBI Channelers back when I applied and no one was certain. The CIC website doesn't mention it specifically so I did it the old fashioned way and mailed in my fingerprints to the FBI and got back a letter saying I had no...

To include or not to include this info

I would say what site specifically you met on as I was asked that a ton. (I met online gaming via facebook but still, I have been asked by border officers specifally what site etc). However other than that I don't think they need to know too many personal details. When I applied I talked about...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around much but just wanted to update I landed today! I am in Winnipeg so I landed at Emerson and here is what happened, if anyone plans to do the same. I wanted to import my vehicle at the same time. I phoned CIC to clarify what I had to do. I had to send a...

13 years age gap, mention it or not?

Just chiming in - My husband and I have an 11 year age gap. I'm the older one. I know the woman being older raises eyebrows for some people but I think our evidence and photos spoke well for themselves, so we didn't address it in our application.

    Proof for PR application

I don't think there is a set number of pics you should include. My husband and I visited each other monthly so I included a couple of pics from each visit. I tried to be sure to include pics that included our friends and family as well. I didn't include any statements from friends/family but I...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Landing question - This has probably been answered somewhere already but I am not seeing the answer immediately. I preparing to land but I don't want to import my car yet. Can I list it as goods to follow and import it when I am ready? My car is actually already here in Canada as I drove it...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

In regards to visiting - my husband and I visited each other monthly by flying back and forth for almost 2 years. I got questioned waaaay more before we were married. They always seemed to think I had come to stay and mooch off the system or something lol. Twice I was taken to the secondary room...

So Ottawa may be the hub or central office but they are actually just farming them out to LA? Hopefully this means we will see more PPRs soon then!

    Photos

I agree as well i dont think scenery pics are important. I think it is more important to include pictures with each other and any family and friends you have been around.
