thanks so much for your quick reply! He said that there was nothing special in his passport and just a letter stating that because he was American or something he didn't need a visa to get in, so they don't need to put anything his passport??

Anyway, you've made me feel better! thanks! :D
Congrats!! :) And yea, the COPR says not for travel. I think they want to make sure people aren't thinking it is a valid travel document. (ie - passports and such are still necessary). They don't put anything in the passport anymore for US applicants. When you take the COPR to land, they give you your landing paper and will stamp your passport. If you do have to travel (I did), just make sure you carry your documentation with you until the PR Card is finally received.

But what's the point to request passport then? For ID purpose?
They don't actually require the physical passport from US applicants anymore. They specify you can send in copies of it. I only sent them copies of my passport. I would assume it is for ID purposes.

We are still waiting for PPR. So PPR just request copy of passport face page?

Assuming you're visa-exempt( if you're American, you are) then the PPR will request copies of every page of your passport, not just the face page. If you're not visa-exempt, then the PPR will request your actual passport.

Some people continue to report that US visa offices are requesting the actual passport. It is up to the visa officer's discretion - he or she may ask for the passport, or may just ask for the pages. The applicant must comply with whichever has been requested.

Oh, I hadn't heard that. Definitely comply with whatever they request! I wonder why they would request the actual passport when they don't affix anything to them anymore. *shrug*

$500? That's outrageous.

Of course you can order your notes - they are YOUR notes, and even if your lawyer orders them, he is doing it on your behalf.

A service I've used that does this is http://www.caips.ca with great success - she does a good job, communicates clearly and will interpret their meaning for you if you need.

Good luck!

With the closure of Buffalo, I think that I'm going to go ahead and apply for my notes.

Seems like that is the best way to find out a bit of information!

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone here ( July 2011 or earlier applicants) still waiting in vain like me :(..? I'm beyond upset..
I've emailed Ottawa office several times and only got one reply back some weeks ago that said : " Please note the standard service time for Family Class application is twelve months from the date you received notice from Case Processing Centre Mississauga."

Does it mean 12 months from the date that my husband was notified that he has met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor (which was Sept 6th, 2011 ) since that 's the only notice that we got from Missisauga?

My status on CiC website hasn't been changed for months. It 's still " In Process" and the only notes in there are :

"We received your application for permanent residence on July 5, 2011.

We started processing your application on January 12, 2012.

Medical results have been received."

Could someone please confirm with me that the 12 months period should be counted from Sept 6th, 2011 and not Jan 12, 2012? ... I'm so confused.

Thank you so much in advance.

I'm also the same timeframe as you guys.

Sent application June 2011, sponsor approved and application forwarded to Buffalo August 2011, Buffalo recieved and started processing January 6th. Mine doesn't even say medicals results recieved which were actually done in October 2010 so are well out of date and i'll have to do them again.

Also the same are the emails saying you are in the queue, you'll have to wait.

I nearly killed my husband today because not working is driving me freakin nuts.
