issue with our application is, the principal applicant does not have a valid visa and will need to apply for one. this might raise a red flag to the visa office.
we contact CIC via phone last week and they said criminality is done and they started security check. we applied first week of march 2017 and 11 months are already over.

we are in the same situation. have been planning to go to home country and meet family, but because of mixed experience stories, are scared to cross the border as it might jeopardize the whole application and 11 months of wait.
No you won't have to wait for three years.
However, be ready to expect an interview as you re-married within a year of getting divorce. VO might question your relationship. Again, this won't happen for sure but there is a high chance.

hmmm, it seems they are trying to save time by asking applicants to do landing over phone rather than scheduling it in the office. I saw one of the posts mentioned that duration of such interviews is only 15 minutes, so yes it makes sense.
