PGWP Expiration - share your story

Just a quick question, you say CIC said you could apply for a BOWP after you had submitted your EE application and paid the fee, would you not still have to wait for an AOR?

Want to start a petition. Please provide Input!

The answer is simple, protecting jobs for Canadians. You were granted a temporary permit to work, at the end of which you're expected to leave. Canadian Citizens and PRs take priority, so unless your employer can prove that they can't find a suitable Canadian, you don't get an LMIA and you don't...

    LMIA

Unfortunately that is the nature of things right now.

Talked to a lawyer regarding next EE cut off

This has already been discussed, nobody could find an accurate correlation because people who had submitted profiles within a few hours after EE opened were receiving 'high' EE IDs, seems pretty unlikely that 10k people would have fully submitted EE profiles only a few hours after the system...

Let raise our concerns regarding PGWP candidtaes for CEC having no chance

Exactly, over time the minimum score is bound to drop, since it's no easier for employers to obtain LMIA etc. Say a student is soon to graduate and will be obtaining a PGWP. They can start working, complete an EE profile and then add to it when they improve language scores, gain more work...

    i got ita

Can you not put something like UNEMPLOYED as job title or something for those periods? Otherwise you'd have to call CIC and probably have a call agent who doesn't know the answer and then you have to guess.

Confusion about EE and wages under CEC......Pls Help.....

Another reason for it being hard to get an LMIA, the company has to advertise the job role for a month, interview people etc. Then when they submit the paperwork they have to be able to show why they couldn't hire a Canadian or couldn't find one. Unless your skillset and role is very specialized...

ECA needed for Spouse - To boost points?

what happens when job bank opens ?

Pretty sure all of them are already in Canada working under temporary permits that needed an LMIA anyway.

ECA needed for Spouse - To boost points?

When you say you applied you mean you submitted your Express Entry profile? The first draw has already been done, the minimum score was 886. As it stands, if you don't have an LMIA-supported job offer you will need all the points you can get, meaning ECA for both principal applicant and spouse.

EE is unfair in its selection process for full-timers working in Canada on PGWP

Because you are not a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and only have the temporary privilege to work. Even if you are the best candidate for the job, Canadians take precedence, it's as simple as that. Hence the advantage given to LMIA holders and the difficulty in obtaining them, it shows...

Low(er) Scores? Why You'll Still Get ITA under EE

Only if Job Bank is up and running soon and employers are rushing to get LMIAs.

CIC might need to clear this confusion!!!

Do you really think that a PR application would be denied to someone because they asked for clarification on a particular aspect of a complex immigration system? Imagine the media reaction to a story like that...

CIC might need to clear this confusion!!!

Why would you need a dummy email and Twitter account? Just email or tweet them yourself, whether you'd get an informative reply, if any, is another story...

Low(er) Scores? Why You'll Still Get ITA under EE

Me too haha. There are only a few 500s by the looks of things, I wouldn't be surprised if they are dipping into high 400s within a couple months.

    LMIA processing time

Pretty sure last I heard it was 3-4 months, not including the time that the employer needs to advertise the role.

When would be next EE draw .. Any guess

So your theory is that they will just wait for the pool to have say 1000 people with an LMIA or PNP nomination in it, then issue that number of ITAs each time. Pretty sure they'd have a hard time hitting any sort of immigration targets if that was the case judging by the difficulty in getting...

LMIA with 2 months left on work permit?

If you obtained an LMIA then you would get a new work permit, however I doubt you'd get an LMIA within 2 months since the employer has to advertise the role for 4 weeks before they can even submit the paperwork and then it's a 3-4 month wait after that point for the LMIA, unless your employer...
