Not immediately though....after years and years....but also that's the whole point...life changes a lot in years..40yr old you is very different from 30yr old you.
Interesting case...well, PR
Hmmm not sure if this is true (that this is necessarily fraud). A marriage can be falling apart for years but then the couple go for counselling and save it. In fact, it's probably a sign that the marriage is genuine & real, with real problems and challenges and not...
So what is the added value exactly? I'm really struggling to see the point as I always applied directly to government websites. At least for Canada, US & EU.
Same here. First time to have this check (and clearly misplaced IMO). Any luck for your husband? My status has always been "you don't need biometrics" though they made me pay with the application.
I hear a lot about VFS. They seem to be handling visa applications for several governments. Can someone explain who are they and how it works? (Given that visas are usually viewed as a very intimate government activity that is never contracted to the private sector).
You can even return past your visa (the date on the visa expiry is just on entry). Say you enter on the last day and the POE officer gives you 3 months, you can leave up to 3 months past your visa expiry.
As others explained, make sure your passport has enough validity
I totally agree that this is by far the worst system. No transparency, no accountability whatsoever.
Applied from the US mid June, and only now just got the biometrics letter. Took them 70 days to send this (and god knows how long till they actually do the next step).
In the US, you get the...
After 10 weeks I finally got something: a biometrics letter. I had paid the fess, but the online application still says "no need for biometrics". I imagine they'll "sort it out", though given their pace it may take another couple months
I applied mid June and still nothing. Background processing (funny, since most of my background for the past 10 years is actually in Canada). Visas took < 2 weeks when I was a broke student. Now that I have very strong ties and status out of Canada, they're taking forever.
Just to note, this is the general rule. They may have a weird exception for some nationalities as IRCC are so fickle. Having an expert around here to answer always helps. But someone I know just did that this year, had no problems, which is how I know.
Good luck!
You totally can enter Canada with a visa from an older, cancelled passport so long as the visa itself is still valid.
Also, FYI, even before you renew, they'd let you in with < 6 months on your passport (at least for most nationalities).
Nah, that's not the first such stupid "update". The previous one was at the 30th day mark. This one is exactly at the 60th so it's obviously an auto-generated e-mail every 30 days.
Hah...has it really, though. I sent another nastygram in response. They really goad us with these stupid updates.
Just in case someone else is stuck with those idiots, I clocked over 8 weeks... This is 6x the posted timeline -- even my home country is posted to have half that frame!
The only update is that I got the infamous genius "update", that says "no updates to your applicaiton". Let's see how many...
The only reply I got was actually from CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca . It sucks that they have zero accountability & absolutely no transparency whatsoever...I think I can just make it a fun habit to send a nastygram every couple weeks...might as well make someone work and have to cross-reference
Thanks for sharing the timeline and congrats (for the fact that they didn't ruin your travel plans).
I'm still in the same state: background check. Just like Bonitaellada's husband, living in the US, been in and to Canada countless times, been to Europe, etc but they just really love making...
Alrighty! Don't splurge it out then as that would probably expose your identity....Region is enough, I'll only say that damn, I'm pretty sure it's a country I'd be very interested in visiting!
Nope, just the same old "we're doing background checks". I gave up and we changed our plans to not...
Aaaah I see...so like me..visiting family...it's the only reason I ever go now. As far as I'm concerned, they could keep their precious dirt to themselves for all I care.
Wow 3-4 languages...I'm stumped then hehe. This sounds like a European country but then you wouldn't be lurking on this...
Hahaha, if you speak Spanish like I'm guessing, then my country is much worse than yours hehe.
If you guys are in the US, why do you even care about Canada?
Haha, for his sake and yours, I hope not!...Mine is one of the least efficient & most vicious governments on the planet.
Although, quite stupid on IRCC's part, because I cannot think of anyone who's more of an open book (due to history and frequent contact with Canada & US visa authorities)...
