Hi, you can leave the country as soon as you get your OWP and as long as you have a valid visa in your passport. Also, you shouldn't leave for longer than 3 weeks.

FBI certificates are tricky...so it's hard to say. You're not loosing anything if you apply with your existing one. And then if they ask you - just get another one.

You should be totally fine! Don't worry. I submitted my certificates that were 2.5 months old and they never questioned anything.

Hi, I am no expert, but traveling before you get your OWP approved is a huge risk. Does he have a visitor visa here or he's just using his Green Card? Rules with US shouldn't be that strict, but you never know. Of course, human factor plays the greatest role. If he does decide to leave though...

I did after I received my OWP. But I have been with the same employer for one year and they ask for a letter saying that you will be employed with them for another six months. They are pretty strict with that letter.

It's usually 2 years. I got mine till the expiry date on my passport.

I have a pretty similar timeline but I sent medical with my application package. In your case, I think the next step would be your medical request and only after that they will start reviewing your eligibility.

I read it on some other forum, somebody mentioned that 3 weeks is a proper amount of time for vacation, anything more than that can be interpreted as if the person is not planning on residing in Canada in their future.
