    Ray of hope - FSW - 1

My assumption at this stage is that these 27,000 invites will have no bearing on the regular invite schedule. This was directly linked to the promise to provide a PR pathway for all temporary residents in Canada, many of whom were/are in the frontlines during the pandemic. IRCC still has a long...

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your time back in school, create an excellent Canadian network and eventually get PR.

    FSW AOR 2020 Join here

Check out the June and July AOR threads, there are some applications where this happened. Yes, I'm assuming Ottawa is still caught up with their backlog from the first half of the year when it was solely CEC and PNP draws. Once that backlog finishes, we'll hopefully start seeing FSW approvals...

Security can start and end within a matter of a few days for many applicants. I've seen a few posts recently here with the same story - security not started when they called, and everything passed when they checked after 2-3 weeks. So good luck.

Excellent. Hopefully you are very close to PPR.

    FSW AOR 2020 Join here

An FSW outland resident with September AOR got their PPR yesterday via London (UK, not Ontario) VO. So that's another VO which is now processing FSW applications quickly besides Accra. Hopefully Ottawa and friends will start doing so soon as well. In many cases, security goes from 'not started'...

Congrats @AmalDreams. It's great news that another VO besides Accra is processing FSW applications from September. Hopefully more VOs will join the party soon.

It can’t be controlled completely, but most people get allocated to a VO near their place of residence or to a Canadian VO. The allocation between local and Canadian VO seems to depend on workload. Since the pandemic started, Accra VO seems to be very efficient. Most September AORs have already...

If I could go back in time, I’d definitely have moved to west Africa before my AOR and would’ve chilled somewhere in the coast near Accra waiting for my PPR (which would’ve come last month if my file was at the wonderful Accra VO).

Well in my case, I've already got my ITA via learning French, so I'm certainly not doing another masters degree in Canada now :) But for others, it really is a highly subjective thing. I've seen extremely clever people struggling to learn languages, because it just doesn't come naturally to...

One year masters in Quebec. Costs anywhere between 10K to 30K CAD for international students. More points due to Canadian masters' + the opportunity to improve your spoken French by immersing yourself in a francophone culture. I think that's a good deal for most people. PGWP duration is...

Nah a lot of FSW Outland people are also with Ottawa (like me). But their processing has been so slow lately due to capacity constraints that they still seem to be processing the candidates with AOR from the initial part of last year (which were largely CEC inland people), before the FSW draws...

    >>>>>>>JUNE 2020 AOR<<<<<<< Join here

Yes, but there were PNP/CEC draws during that time with the same total amount that is typically invited between all streams. So I can't see why that's a factor. (Unless the numbers you shared were of FSW applications acceptance and visa approvals only - if that's the case, then it certainly...

    1. IRCC never paused issuing ITAs at any time, they always had at least CIC candidates being invited even in the first half of the year. The second point that you mentioned might really be playing a big part then. People are actually deciding not to apply due to the pandemic? I still find it a...

Thanks for sharing this, these numbers look quite interesting. Would you mind answering couple of questions on this please? 1. Why do you think the applications submitted numbers have dropped off so much in the second half of 2020 despite the very high ITA numbers? Are people invited to apply...

Because they know they have the ability to process these applications (naturally with a delay of a few months in avg processing time) and try to meet the 2021 target which is important for the local economy.

The facts that you mention are the obstacles that prevent the immigration system from working smoothly at present. And the point I'm making is that IRCC is probably working to devise a plan to land FSW outland immigrants as soon as they can, by managing such obstacles in the best way possible...

Immigration and economy are kind of in a virtuous cycle in Canada - immigration directly contributes to boosted business for a number of Canadians working in all kinds of sectors from housing to essential services. So it's not going to be about receiving immigrants AFTER the economy recovers...

Well they certainly won’t be ok to just relax and let the apps pile up. For one thing, the mandate letters do make these guys accountable - 400K landed immigrants target can’t be ignored and they will be under pressure to deliver it. Secondly, immigration directly contributes to a non negligible...

It's only the 10th of January, people are just coming back to work, and Canada is still reeling from the worst wave of the pandemic yet. Give it some time; they will start processing applications. They wouldn't have announced a 400K target in October when they were fully aware of the extent of...
