So just to be perfectly clear, we do not need to prepare two sets of the B4 forms (e.g. one for me, and one for my wife), correct? We just use one form and I select the appropriate boxes under 'returning resident' and my wife does the same under 'settler'...correct? At the present time I have...

Thanks. I'm going to prepare everything today and then make copies, plus I think I will bring a couple of blank copies of both B4 and B4A just in case there is some kind of mistake. FS

    Hong Kong timeline

There is a QQ group dedicated to the HK office. I think someone posted the info in this thread. There is also a Chinese site similar to this one, but not too many people reply to posts, so it's not a very useful tool. I think this site is by far the best one out there. FS

Hi all, Happy New Year to you all and wishing all of you a fast journey through the immigration process. So, my family will be completing the landing formalities on January 30. We're going to land in Vancouver, stay for about a week, and then return to China to wrap things up. I have started...

I guess I will send a case specific e-mail to HK to see what they say regarding this change of status. I know it's nothing serious, but still, would be nice to know why. FS

Just wondering if anyone could help explain why my wife's e-cas has changed back to 'In Process' after showing 'Decision Made'? She already has her PR visa and the COPR. We have until March 1, 2013 to land. Does this have something to do with the PR card? Thanks, FS

Personally, there is no place like home when it comes to Christmas. Yes, HK is lovely, but if you've been a million times, it gets old...just like any other place. Marty, a BIG congratulations to you and your wife! You are correct, in that, your wife's e-cas will change to 'Decision Made'...

does the new 2 years rule apply to those who as there pr one year ago

This is good news and something they should have done years ago! But, does this mean that my wife and I fall under this new regulation? It's no big deal for us because we are happily married (with children)...but still, I'd like to know... Thanks, FS

Has anything gone wrong for anybody at the landing interview ?

It's not an interview. It's a simple process whereby the immigration officer confirms the COPR information. Once you have the visa, that's it...you will not have any troubles when you land. FS

Does it matter who writes Letters of Support?

I wrote all the letters and asked family and friends to sign. We had letters from both sides of the family and from some of our friends. No problem. The visa office never asked for anything further, so they must have accepted what I submitted. FS

    name change

I have a similar question, but mine is to do with my wife's last name. My wife's last name is not the same as mine, but we want to change it. Not sure where she needs to do this, or if it's even possible as all her documents have her Chinese last name. Any advice? Thanks, FS

    Opening account from abroad

I was able to open two savings accounts, a GIC, and a visa card...all online and via e-mail with an account manager (Royal Bank). Really easy. Any documents that needed my signature were scanned and e-mailed to me. I signed and returned via e-mail. Tomorrow I will go to the bank here in...

    Non-Resident + Taxes

Thanks. So I should definitely keep my Chinese tax assessments and get them translated and notarized, right? I think it's a good idea to keep all income related documents, both official and from my employer, just in case I am asked to prove where the money was earned. Luckily I have all those...

    Non-Resident + Taxes

Thanks for the replies. So there is no need to provide proof of where the money came from? To avoid any scrutiny, should I transfer amounts less than $10,000? Thanks, FS

    Non-Resident + Taxes

Hi all, Just a quick question: When I return to Canada, I will be transferring a large amount of money to my recently opened savings account with RBC. As far as I know, I will not have to pay tax. Is this correct? Is there a limit? Let's say, for example, that I was planning to transfer...

    Sticky situation with my employment

Be honest and report the facts. CIC doesn't care if you are working legally or illegally. You should go back to your employer and explain that any letter they give you will never come back to get them; it's being used for CIC purposes and CIC has no jurisdiction, or interest, in whether you...

My timeline is pretty much the same as mobeyk's except we received the visa about a week earlier because no additional documents were requested at the time of the PPR. Don't worry, HK is very professional and they know how to get things done quickly. FS

Congrats to KJG!!! Well done! It's funny how time flies...before being approved time seems to stop, but once you get through, you look back and think, "Wow, that wasn't so bad." So, to all those still waiting, your time will come and when it does, everything will be right again with the...
