Can a citizenship application be rejected after AOR? If yes, do you have to satisfy residency criteria again before reapplying?

The only two eligibility criteria left after AOR to possibly be rejected on are physical presence and criminality though, right? Assuming you satisfied both of those, what else can they reject you on?

Wait times for new applications without citizenship tests in place

The test is so useless anyway, a bunch of stupid questions for which you have to memorize answers. They should just scrap it altogether and give citizenship once you meet the eligibility requirement. No one is interested in the stupid test or the oath that follows, let's be cereal.

Change name before or after citizenship application?

Change your name after you get citizenship. You don't want to take a chance of delay with these bureaucratic organizations like the government. Also, why are you changing your name? Is it that hard to pronounce for Canadians?

Does anyone have his application going from "AOR" to "IN PROCESS" in ECAS during COVID yet

To answer the OP's question, no. Look at the citizenship tracker, no one's application has gone from AOR to ECAS ever since the COVID demon.

Can a citizenship application be rejected after AOR? If yes, do you have to satisfy residency criteria again before reapplying?

Hi, As the topic states, I am wondering if it is possible for CIC to reject a citizenship application after AOR has been sent to an applicant and if yes, for what reasons can they do that? Further, if it is rejected, would the applicant have to satisfy residence criteria for citizenship again...

Hey, for those who received AOR, just wondering on the ECAS case status website, what does the status show as? Is it 'Application Received'?

I have been checking for this same thing on the tracker every week but so far no one has reported that.

    January 2020 - citizenship application

No I am not. I don't think these categories refer to citizenship applications, they are referring to visa applicants who want to get back into Canada. Citizenship applicants will take the last priority is my guess because it's not urgent.

    Citizenship applications during COVID

@mrrobot That seems incredibly long, are you the exception or are people who got the AOR same time as you still waiting as well?

Maintaining Permanent Residency. Does the 730 days within 5-year period only get examined only on the date of expiry of the PR card?

I have already met my residency obligation for the first 5 years as a PR and have applied for citizenship. I'm just worried that due to the delays I may not get my citizenship within the next 3 years hence the question. Preparing for the future. I am good for a couple of years though.

Maintaining Permanent Residency. Does the 730 days within 5-year period only get examined only on the date of expiry of the PR card?

I see, so basically if you want to be completely safe, you want to continue to maintain 2 years within 5 years at any point in time when entering Canada since if the officer is having a bad day and you haven't met your obligations he can start proceedings even if he can't deny you entry?

Possible mistake in Physical Presence Calculator?

Hopefully, this COVID-19 doesn't delay things too much then. It has really ruined a lot of things!

Possible mistake in Physical Presence Calculator?

I see, so in short, on the date that you take the oath of citizenship, you should have been in Canada as a Permanent Resident for a minimum of 2 years out of 5 in the preceding 5 years (which is essentially meeting your PR obligation). Is that correct?

Maintaining Permanent Residency. Does the 730 days within 5-year period only get examined only on the date of expiry of the PR card?

Hi, I think this is incorrect as immigration officers are not allowed to deny you entry at the port of entry as long as you have a valid PR card, regardless or if you have met the residency obligation or not. Here is the direct quote from...

Maintaining Permanent Residency. Does the 730 days within 5-year period only get examined only on the date of expiry of the PR card?

Let's say I got my Confirmation of Permanent Residency and Permanent Residency Card on 01-January-2017 and it is valid until 01-January-2022. I then live in Canada continuously for 730 days from 01-January-2017 to 01-January-2019 completing my 2-year residency period for that 5-year period. I...
