    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I've finally got my AOR from Buffalo as of today via email. Guess there are people on the other end after all. Now I can relax a little. ;)

Is that 4-5 months after they receive it, or 4-5 months after they start processing it?

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Okay. I've just emailed them again a few minutes ago with my Client ID, along with many other important tidbits of information regarding my wife and I. I'm pretty sure I've done all this before, but now that I'm thinking of it, maybe I'm not so sure I was as specific. If it works this time, then...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Why am I not too surprised to read this? I guess the moral of this story is that no matter where you go, government is government. :)

I think I've asked them for a file number about six weeks ago. I never did get a response, though. I guess it's still a waiting game for me at this point.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I'm feeling discouraged.... It's been more than four months now since Buffalo has my file and so far.... There's been no change in the status of my app on E-CAS, and I've still haven't received an acknowledgment of receipt from Buffalo, either. I'm wanting my wife to order the CAIPS notes to...

Looks like good news to me. Congratulations! I believe we're both at around the same timeline and hope I can get some good news in my mailbox soon.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Reading your quote makes me wonder if I'll get my own PPR soon, too. With some of the stuff I've been reading here, I was thinking that I might have to hunker down into my apartment for another cold winter before I can move to my wife's place. As for feeling guilty, if it's Buffalo picking and...

Sure they can, or at least the State of Michigan was able to in my case. It was also much quicker to get back a response from the State than it was the FBI, too. :)

I can't say for those that are going through the in-Canada process, but to the best of my knowledge, you cannot get OHIP on a visitor record while you're an outland PR applicant. You'll have to land first, and then OHIP has you wait 90 days before you can get a health card. I don't know about...

Thanks, guys. I knew it was kind of a silly question to ask, but I wanted to be sure.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I have a question. If I, the principal applicant, didn't give CIC my email address when I sent in my application, and I'm not sure if they got it when I've emailed the Buffalo visa office my email address, (I'll assume they didn't get it for the purposes of this question) how will I be notified...

You can also use your receipt number for the immigration fees that were paid to process your application. I believe the CIC calls it an IMM5401, and the number you use to identify yourself to the system should begin with an 'R', followed by nine digits. (or at least it does in my case)

I know I haven't been waiting as long as December, but the waiting game can certainly make a person feel hopeless at times. I can say that it's been pretty hard on my wife and I as of late. But yeah. We're all in the same boat here, so you shouldn't have to feel alone in this.

No movement on mine yet. E-cas still says it's been received as of 6/28/2011. Probably too early still to expect any movement on my file.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

That reminds me. I once saw a YouTube video a few weeks ago that was apparently a leaked recording of a US border crossing gone wrong. Meanwhile, all I can say about it in spite of all the silly comments from the peanut gallery there is that indeed, politeness and directness will get you far...

And I also had a similar reaction when I was asked. I was thinking, "You must be frigging kidding me?! (LOLOLOL)" But nah. I just told him I couldn't afford to sponsor her or some line of crap like that. Sure, if they want to talk to me about what I'm bringing in and all that stuff, well that's...

It might be a real good idea to show the CBP agent your Canadian visitor record if it states that you've applied for a Canadian PR. I've showed it to them pretty much every time I've crossed into Michigan with my wife - including the one time I had to drive her through Michigan to Windsor to...
