CoPRs with approval after March 18 and soon to expire counterfoils entering Canada

I’ve called CBSA twice now and they both said that I will be able to travel with a COPR (issued after 18March) since we are from the USA. “Either” is the key word there... Are you from the US?

Soft landing in March/April 2020 and coronavirus concerns

You need to quarantine no matter what when you enter Canada. But I guess they can’t stop you from returning back after 14 days. If you are from the USA, you are exempt from the restrictions. If you are not from the USA, you are exempt only if you got COPR before March 18. Source -...

Soft landing during Covid from US

I think the answer is Yes ONLY if you are coming from the USA. I called border services and got this answer - The lady I spoke to was very nice. She said that depending on the time that we enter, there may or may not be immigration services there, to process our landing. But she said that even...

Soft landing in March/April 2020 and coronavirus concerns

I’m currently in the USA and I called CBSA today... the lady I spoke to was very nice. She said that depending on the time that we enter, there may or may not be immigration services there, to process our landing. But she said that even if there’s no one there from immigration, the border...

Soft landing in March/April 2020 and coronavirus concerns

Yeah I believe so. They will need to place 1 new stamp/Visa on your passport that expires in the future. You can’t travel with an expired visa for any reason

Yeah you can enter back in the US if you are allowed based on US border officials. When you get to Canada Port of entry, you’ve basically LEFT the US. It’s the same as airport Port of Entry.

How do we know that traveling with COPR is considered essential? I don’t think Approved = PPR. When you get your PPR, the application online still says “In Progress” I called them last week and they said that they couldn’t say yes or no on the phone. It would be up to the officer at the...

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

That’s easy to say when you can just turn around and go home if they deny entry. But some of us can’t do that.

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

Yeah but AVR doesn’t apply to my spouse. Do you know any groups with people that have COPR after March 18 and planning to travel?

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

Have there been successful cases of people traveling from the US with COPR after March 18? That’s probably the only way to know. It’s too risky for me to travel and check because I may not be able to enter back into US at the moment if Canada denies entry.

Yes, mine expires on August 6. I want to land soon, maybe mid July if the borders are open. If not, we will need to apply for extensions...

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

Got a reply today, seems generic - Please note that the present Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) e-mail address is intended for general inquiries and answers general questions about the programs and services it offers. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is committed to limiting...

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

I sent this email to CBSA yesterday, maybe if we ask they will answer. Yesterday the government made a decision for letting family of citizens and PRs to come through the border (children, spouse). Maybe if enough people ask that immigration should be allowed, they will respond. Dear Officer...

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

Yeah. It’s too risky for me as well. Also, if you get to Canada port of entry, essentially you have LEFT the United States. So getting back home, you have to follow and be eligible to enter the US based on the USA immigration officer.

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

I called the CBSA today and asked if immigration from the USA is considered essential or not, but all they could say over the phone is that it’s up to the immigration officer at port of entry if they consider it essential or not. They cannot say over the phone that we would be given entry even...

COPRs issued after March 18. Residence in USA.

Do you think we can request IRCC or border services to consider people like us that are waiting to start our life to be considered as an exemption? It seems like immigration should be considered essential as we just want to travel and settle down.
