I noticed our background check had changed to "in progress" once we were contacted about an interview date. However, our interview date is soooo far ahead of us, maybe typically they would do the background check and then the invite would come closer to the actual interview time?

does anyone know if they will confirm receipt of your request? i sent mine w/ a certified money order, and was confirmed received via Fedex tracking- but just wanted to see if the FBI will confirm they've received it if you call?

It was pretty much simultaneously actually. Within a day or two. My husband is from Jamaica though- they seem to interview all applicants now. Most who are successful are granted their visa at the end of their interview.

There are different levels of police checks in Canada- one being a simple name based check (which is probably what the Ottawa police is referring to)- and which apparently, CIC already has the ability to perform themselves. So if they have asked for you to do a fingerprint check, I would advise...

Thanks. :) Did you have a match in the system as well? My husbands arrived at in Ottawa on May 18th , we used a 3rd party to make his prints digital.

My husband is not a criminal either- he just has his fingerprints in the system from previous immigration matters. I know it is much faster without a match. Thanks for the feedback though. :)

I know the RCMP says up to 120 days or more if there is a match, but that is a very vague estimate to consider. For all if you who have a match in ... How long did it take for you to receive your record?

I'm wondering if anyone WITH a fingerprint match, can let me know how long it took for your report? Was it more or less than the 120 days stated on the RCMP website?

They'll still process your spousal sponsorship application, but if they approve your application before the time the exclusion order is up, you'll be required to submit an ARC (authorization to return to Canada). This is a seperate application from the sponsorship application. Info here...

I wonder the same too. Thinking maybe they lost an employee? So office is a little swamped until a new person is trained? Who knows.... its just so frustrating that we're all the ones affected by whatever the "circumstances" are.
