Fingerprints for PR

Hi all,

So the online tool says that you have to submit your 10 fingerprints to get a check done.

The Ottawa branch local to me does a criminal records check without fingerprints online:

Is this acceptable or does it HAVE to be a finger print based CR check?

Also - I have a Police Check from the UK - it was 2 years ago but since that one was published I have been living in Canada. Do i need an up to date UK one although I haven't even been living there?

There are different levels of police checks in Canada- one being a simple name based check (which is probably what the Ottawa police is referring to)- and which apparently, CIC already has the ability to perform themselves. So if they have asked for you to do a fingerprint check, I would advise doing so!
