Since you met PR residence obligation, I do not think there is any problem in getting TD before coming back from your vacation. BTW, when have you applied for PR card renewal? I am trying to figure out the timing of these secondary review emails in respect to the date of the application.

Dear all I have a question how to calculate absence for PR residency obligation purposes for trips with connection flight in Canada. If let's say I start my trip on Sat night from Canadian city A (with final destination to Europe), but I have a connection flight on Sun morning in Canadian city...

Even if people do apply exactly 6 months before, so many things that can delay the processing...It is enough to have photos that do not fit, not to mention RQ, and one would end up with expired card

The processing time is now 159 days...just 3 weeks difference between the processing time and 6 months rule...I fail to see the logics to be honest.

What if OP gets back to Canada without being reported and then goes to collect his/her PR card from CIC...Will CIC perform RO determination at the day of PR card collection?

I think CIC would have to consider time they were living together abroad toward OP's PR residency obligation even if they do not live together now and even divorced?

Current rules for "urgent processing" work for "moderately urgent" cases but not for truly urgent ones. If there is a well planned vacation, let's say 3 months in advance - urgent processing application would work. If there is really an urgent need to go from today to tomorrow due to family...
