hi does any1 in the forum heard any rumors (?) that in the new rules, CIC might be requiring ACADEMIC IELTS for Nurses and other professionals and that the GENERAL IELTS will then be for non-skilled applicants?

hi panraman as it is and based on the existing criteria, you scored a 12. we have the same overall score but of varying level per ability. having said that, come Jan 2013 or even earlier, we still don't know if there'll be changes to IELTS bands required per ability, so it is difficult to tell...

hi Mogboy For me, I believe that what CIC did to pre- Feb 2008 applicants is already playing with their lives... Likewise, there is no guarantee that they are not going to do the same to earlier MIs... Cheers

hi OMG maybe u r right... if that is the case then how could they substantially reduce the backlog then? by next year new applications will pour in and again backlog will pile up. will they legislate wiping out MI1 & 2 too?...easy way out....

hi OHMYGOD the 90d stay apply only to pre-Feb 2008 applications. MI1 & 2 have slowed down due to CIC giving preference to applicants under MI3.

hi erdavid yes, i joined recently. if u filed pre Feb 27, 2008, you can still join. the 90d period will expire approx 29 Sept 2012 (from 29 June 2012). i clarified with them what's my position as a litigant if i join only now - they assured me that it is the same as the earlier 200 or so...

hi noon in answer to ur questions: 1. Yes, since those were the requirements at the time, except IELTS because it was not a requirement back then. Just certifications from school, workplace about English language ability 2. my visa office is Manila, Philippines cheers

the 90d stay started from 29 June 2012, hence, will end approx on 29 Sept 2012.

what I understand is that refunds, if there are any, have been put on hold until after Sept 2012. this may have something to do with the current lawsuits on file. until then, it's a game of wait and see....

u have a point there... i would say, it is up to the individual applicant now whether to join or not based on one's assessment about the situation.... at least in ur case, u were asked to update before the freeze came up. did u try ordering ur CAIPS to see what's going on with ur application...
