Exit and Entry Count with PR at Border Crossing

This is an interesting topic for me because after I (hopefully) get PR I plan to keep my current US job (I work remotely as well) at least until we get good and settled and my wife and I can get jobs in Canada...this way the steady income keeps flowing during the process. I will also have to...

Is this allowable under these PR conditions?

In order for your PR wife to meet the residency obligation to maintain her PR, she must be physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days within the past five (5) years. Alternatively if she has been a PR for less than 5 years (as it seems may be the case based on your talk about the...

RIV "Inspection" (Canadian Tire / Ontario)

JayPinNC: Awesome! My vehicle is a Honda made for US standards and so the Speedometer has both...so that works. As for the DRLs...that's what I figured it meant but I just wanted to clarify. That would have to be fixed. The lights do come on automatically when it is dark, even when in the...

Refinance a US vehicle through a Canadian Bank?

Hi Steaky, I'm guessing you mean a personal loan. The thought did cross my mind. That would clear the title issue. The only thing that concerns me with that is that as a newcomer with no established credit it might be hard to get a personal loan for enough money to cover it without having...

LANDING IN CANADA ??? -All You Need To Know.

This was an excellent post that I'm sure has helped many. Kudos on a job well done! I do have a question not covered though. Once you receive your COPR and are able to land, can you still come into Canada as a visitor without landing? I am a US Citizen and as such do not need a visa to...

RIV "Inspection" (Canadian Tire / Ontario)

You were importing your vehicle from the US, correct? Did you have to change out your speedometer for a metric one or is it sufficient if you have MPH and in smaller numbers it also has KM/H? Also...by daytime running lights I assume this means that your headlights are always on when the car...

Bringing a Canadian Vehicle to the US while a PR and US Citizen

Here is something I have been thinking about. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation. I am a US Citizen who has applied for Canadian PR under the FSW program. My App was received at the CIO in Sydney Dec 24, 2014. I got my PER email March 22, 2015. I already know that...

Refinance a US vehicle through a Canadian Bank?

I have read some of the posts about importing a vehicle to Canada. I have been thinking on how to deal with this as I have a vehicle that I am still paying on that I would want to import into Canada from the USA. The problem is that as I have read about in my research, you have to have the...

Which bank to open account in

Why stay away from RBC? Did you have a bad experience? Please share. From looking at the websites, I noticed that in their Newcomer package they include auto loans. Apparently TD doesn't do auto loans. Something to consider. I haven't looked into Scotia...I'll have to read up on their...

Landing via Amtrak train? NYC to Toronto. Has anyone Landed via train?

I know this is an old post, but if you get this message, I am curious...did you end up landing by train? If so, how did it go?

Can I do landing at the time I want?

When you get your COPR how long do you have to land? I have heard different things. One thing I heard was that you have a year. Another place I saw that it is only 1 year from the date of your Medical Exam. Thanks. :)
