ON THE LIGHTER SIDE: Paranoia during the "wait"

I just took a nap (yep, at home most of the time), and I literally DREAMED about a Reese's peanut butter cup. :o It's the opposite in our home, most of the time. I joke about the fact that he's totally responsible for me. AOR was Oct 23...so two days BEFORE they made the change about...

    2012 Quebec Inland Applicants

CSQ issued 22-2-2013, and CSQ received 27-2-2013! :D I'm worried that my mistakes will still come back to haunt me (police certificate sent just TODAY to FBI - I screwed up! and medical not done yet, but I have one scheduled), but it still feels good to see visible proof of progress.

is it possible to go on welfare after AIP ?

Also, even after PR is granted, the PR's sponsor is responsible for repaying "the Crown" for any social assistance the PR receives (for three years after becoming a PR in case of spouses...think it's 10 years for sponsored parents, and no clue on lengths of time for any other family members).

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I had that problem last week. Tried maybe 6 times in a row and couldn't get through. Tried again a few hours later, and reached an agent after a ten-minute wait.

October 2012 Applicants! Here's our thread!

AOR = Acknowledgement of receipt, when you get the letter from CIC saying that the sponsorship app has been received, so December 18 for you. If you want added to the spreadsheet, post in that thread with all of your info. Rusty53 is the one who adds people to it.

October 2012 Applicants! Here's our thread!

There's a 2012 inland thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/updated-topics/-t90875.0.html;topicseen. And this WONDERFUL spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArrQkNcsLVotdDJOOWJlZkhVOEhCMHZCakNoa3UzVHc#gid=0, which gives you an at-a-glance...

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE: Paranoia during the "wait"

Bahahahahaha! I'm giggling over this, and the others who chimed in with the same thing. Our friends, both Canadian and American, all seemed to think that on the day we got married, *poof* the husband magically gained American citizenship and I magically gained Canadian citizenship. Poor...

Congrats on getting into a course, at least! I'm grateful for the family courses offered by the military. They're not always that organized, and it's just a few hours a week, but it's a heck of a lot better than nothing.

    Photograph question

Thanks AGAIN, anticipation! I'll feel better once I get this stuff in. The medical is going to be a pain, since there are no docs within two hours of me, but I'm hoping we can find someone who can see me in Montreal. Fingers crossed, and again, I REALLY appreciate the feedback! lalune117...

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE: Paranoia during the "wait"

I have learned how STUPID I am from reading on the forum. I left documents out, etc. Working on remedying that now, as they are processing, not rejecting app. Anyhow, my funny isn't from CIC, just from my husband. We were in Quebec a total of three weeks before he left for a course in ON for...

    Question regarding police certificate

Thanks, and all the best to you! It's a stressful process. While I'm thankful Canada allows me to apply for PR, it's still an added complication on top of adjusting to a new life I've never considered. We all need some patience and luck!

    Photograph question

Thanks anticipation, messenger, and Gary_87!!! I have the FBI request form ready to go out in Monday's mail, and I'll see if a doc in Montreal can get me in. If not, I'll just have to drive down to Quebec some other time. I'm worried about compromising my app with these oversights, but as...

    Question regarding police certificate

I was told by a CIC agent today that they would request the documents from me later. No mention of returning the file. I'll just hope for the best. And I did read the instructions. Over and over again. NO CLUE how I missed that. I was so confused I couldn't think straight before it was all...

A quick search found this: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/about/publication/soc_ins_num_eng.shtml http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/about/reports/sin/applying.shtml But it looks like maybe you can only get a SIN once you're authorized to work or study? You can definitely get one with...

    2012 Quebec Inland Applicants

Appreciate the info! From what I understand, there is a cap on the total number of hours of free language courses Quebec will provide. One is eligible for up to 1800 hours of french instruction from MICC, I believe. Not sure if it would be free or not if I'm not a PR yet. I don't even intend...

    Photograph question

I feel so DUMB! Ugh! Reading here has helped me figure out all of the stuff we've done WRONG with my PR app. Hopefully, nothing bad enough to derail the processing. I see now I should have done my medical and police certificate before applying and sent those with the original app. I'm going...

    2012 Quebec Inland Applicants

Thanks for that info! I've bookmarked the page. What the MICC representative told me makes sense, then. The full-time french program for immigrants is a year-long program, so I would need PR before I am eligible for admission to that one. But there's a shorter, part-time course, as well, so...
