They didn't mention it in the PPR letter... they told us in response to an email we sent. Had we not sent the CSE, we wouldn't have known either.

Haha true. We had to wait because it takes 7-8 weeks from the time they request it from Ottawa until they receive the go ahead. They sent the PPR at the same time as sending the extension request.

It took 4 weeks, but having to wait on the med extension made it slightly more complicated. They're usually pretty good at getting it back in the 2-3 week time frame. When you send it in, include your travel itinerary and let them know when you need it back. If 2 weeks go by, send them urgent CSE's.

There is also Republic Day on Sep 24th (today). I remember because they held on to our passport an extra day because of it >:(

Best of luck, thanks for letting us know how it went! Fingers crossed that you hear back from them quickly. My husband and I both hyphenated our last names, but we did it after he arrived. Right now we've got one name on some documents, hyphenated on others, it's quite a mess actually lol, but...

Your police certificates have to be submitted within 3 months from the date on the certificates and will be valid for one year, hence why it's suggested to do them closer to your submission date. Check with NY state to see how long they take to process the police check, my husband's took about 2...

The state police certificate I think only takes a few days (or 2 weeks?) to get...it's not very long, so you could wait on that. The FBI takes 8-12 weeks, so I 'd time it to arrive right around the time you want to submit your application. If you wait til after the ceremony, you'd have quite a...

Awesome :) The cover letter is not mandatory (hence why it isn't mentioned in the guides) but it's highly recommended. It allows you to frame your relationship and guide the VO through your application. You can use it to introduce yourselves, point out anything you particularly want them to know...

If memory serves me right, I believe that's what we got as well. We emailed them to confirm and they got back to us saying yes they had our application. They're a little wonky sometimes, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Perhaps send a CSE if you want the extra reassurance, but I'm sure...

Typically lawyers are only recommended in complicated cases where you'd need someone with extensive knowledge of loopholes to help you get through. The paperwork is fairly straightforward and you guys could easily complete it on your own. Just pay attention to details and double and triple check...

Attorney refuse to take sponsorship case?

I think what Dan was referring to is the applicant trying to overcome whatever reasons the lawyer listed for not taking on the case, I.e. try to use these learnings to strengthen his sponsorship case
