Yeah your receipt number should work to check your application status. As for AOR, you'll receive it via email, unless they're unable to email you (like if you didn't provide an email address with your initial application) But do note that you won't be able to check your application status...

You should call CIC / your visa office and ask for file number, say you never received it and that you don't seem to be receiving their communications. I'm sure they can check the email address on file and resend the AOR email if you request it. Whoever told you it was in process should be able...

If it's truly in process you have nothing to worry about, you probably should have had file number by now but maybe the letter got lost. Make sure to check your spam. You should try to log in to ecas by using any info you currently have, such as UCI or something similar. Otherwise you can ask...

In my experience I'd give it at least 2 weeks for pretty much anything to update on ecas, but I couldn't tell you for sure about the receipt since I didn't try myself until a month after I paid.

It definitely never shows up in ecas! What you can do to see if they did get it though, is to find the "receipt number" on the RPRF pdf receipt you sent them, and use that to log into ecas (pick the identification method as "receipt number". If that brings you to your application, you're good!

We paid the fees back then and sent them via case specific enquiry, but they still sent out actual RPRF (saying we "hadn't paid yet" which wasn't true) when we got medical, so we...

Oh so you got that same message too! Glad I'm not alone :D I got medical received and I can tell RPRF was attached properly since using the receipt number works. So you got that line in ecas too but didn't get any request for additional docs? I guess we're all set then! :)
