What was the reason for rejection? I would defer your studies if I was you. Order GCMS notes and re-apply with a strong SOP addressing the rejection reasons.

Your spouse cannot get an open work permit without you getting a visa first. I have seen someone get approved for their study permit and their spouse and children get denied, but it can't go the other way.
