Background check for 2 weeks now. Not really concerned as I hear the timeline for this can be 4-6 weeks these days so just going to be a bit more patient... Our case is fairly straight forward (US Citizen, married for 5 years, no kids/dependents)

Keep in mind when they put your background check in process your file likely has nearly finished, pending background approval. Since this process is not instant, they put your file back at the bottom of a stack (or so I've heard) and once it comes back to the top, if the background check is...

Hang in there! I personally am giving it at least 4 weeks before I get anxious. I've seen it take 4+ weeks for many people so I'm not expecting any miracles!

From what I've read by others it can take 2-4 weeks. Apparently Ottawa is taking longer than normal when you go into Background Check...no longer the 2-3 days now its normal to wait 2-4+ weeks so I would say you still got some time before you can worry :) Hopefully you get something before Xmas!

You should be hearing something about the background check in the coming weeks. They are just getting through the late August transfers like us! Stevin was on Friday and mine was Wednesday (Background check changed to In Progress) so you should probably hear something soon!

I assume in our case (US Citizen) there is no PPR right? I've heard its just a letter in the mail? That would be nice. Also...we live about an hour from the border (Vermont). We also wanted to flagpole because we won't be moving until sometime in May (we didn't think it would happen so fast so...

Hi everyone! Still waiting for my decision but noticed today my background check changed to "In Progress". My file was transferred to Ottawa on August 22nd and haven't heard anything since. Hopefully that means good news is on its way in the coming weeks! Fingers crossed! :D Prayers for all!

Yup...

As an American I have to say I am so glad I beat the rush to immigrate 4 months ago....apparently CIC was down all night because of this as was Canadavisa haha :D Well at least now I have a good evidence of intent! ;D

I was curious to see what they had to say if anything about my wife's proof of intent to return. It didn't say anything other than the VO will have to review it for us.

If it helps keep spirits high I requested ATIP October 6th and so the report could have been generated then even though I just received it today so its possible something happened in those last 4 weeks. Also, I'm not 100% sure if notes will show any updates. I mean the stuff it said was pretty...

Just got back my ATIP notes that I requested about 4 weeks ago. So apparently there has been no work on my application since August when it was transferred over to Ottawa. Most likely it probably is just sitting in a queue...

It might have to do with end of year quotas. They may have over-done approvals in the summer and need to slow down before the year finishes off. We're still next in the queue but it will probably take a few weeks longer from here.
