Identity and Civil Status Documents in Immigrants Guide

If I submit my birth certificate in French (I'm a Canadian with dual nationality), would that suffice then? Or would CIC see an issue with the fact that it's a birth certificate from my other country of nationality?

Identity and Civil Status Documents in Immigrants Guide

But since family members refers to possible dependents, how come I need to submit my birth certificate too? I have no issue with it, just curious. Also, my birth certificate had to be translated, but it was translated after being certified to be a true copy, would that be fine, or does the...

Identity and Civil Status Documents in Immigrants Guide

With reference to the Middle East version of the Immigrants Guide, on page 3 it asks for Identity and Civil Status Documents. Provide the following: birth certificates, baptismal certificates, or other official document confirming relationship for you and each of your family members. I'm not...

Immigration Photos - both of us or just spouse?

In Part 3: The Immigrants Guide for the Middle East, the document checklist asks to "Supply eight recent photos for each member of your family and yourself". Does family there include me, as my spouse's husband? Or is it just photos of her? I'm sponsoring my wife, no dependents, no kids, no...

Does sponsor need to show marriage certificate?

@Taddy - my wife and I live in the UAE. I'm a Canadian passport holder, and my wife is from the Philippines. @kate - we're sending both together, but my question is about if her birth certificate and our wedding certificate need to be notarized, and if the remaining documents that only say...

Does sponsor need to show marriage certificate?

I took a look through the Middle East one - we're based in the United Arab Emirates. It says, provide notarized photocopies unless stated otherwise. So from the looks of it, the marriage certificate and my wife's birth certificate need to be notarized, but then further down it mentions to...

    Proof of common-law/conjugal relationship

Sorry to jump in but I'm just confused about something. If they're married, how come they're common-law? Is that something different, or does it not apply to married couples? Genuinely confused, can someone explain the difference, as it might apply to me. We're married, applying outland, but...

Does sponsor need to show marriage certificate?

Thank you! :) Do you know which documents for me (the sponsor) and the applicant need to be notarized, and which can be plain photocopies?

Does sponsor need to show marriage certificate?

I'm sponsoring my wife (outland), no co-signer, representative or anything, just me and my wife. I was going through the Sponsor checklist, and I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything. Do I not need to send a copy of our marriage certificate anywhere? I know she does as part of...

Part 3: Country Specific forms - pages 10 and 11

I'm very confused about pages 10 and 11 of the Middle East forms from the Immigrants Guide. I just want to make sure we don't miss them out if they're needed. Both pages are declaration forms, but seem disconnected from the previous or following forms. Half the page is in English and the other...

    Sending photos

Ok it's clear now, thanks. Although we are of different nationalities, I'm gathering as many photos as we can find from different points in our relationship. We don't have anything to hide, but I guess since my wife is from a non visa-exempt country, we'd need to provide more pictures.

What do you mean by visa-exempt countries? We're based in the UAE, and my wife has a 5 year visa to Canada, so does this have anything to do with being visa-exempt?

Thanks. Anyone else know if those supporting letters are required for a married couple?

I don't recall seeing it on the outland application. I think I did see it though on the inland one - is that what you're referring to? Can you let me know where you saw it was required?

@Gemini - that's a good idea, but again, you're putting them in Word and printing it all out? @Aman - How come they asked for supporting letters; if we're married is that normal?

    Which fees for spousal sponsorship?

Thanks. What about the fee for 550 named "Spouse, common law or conjugal partner of the principal applicant, or, where a transitional..." I'm the spouse of the principal applicant, so would this apply to us too?

I have many photos of different points in our relationship, day to day ones, travelling, and big ones like our engagement and wedding, that we'll be sending across, but they were all taken on iPhones. Would a good idea be to print them out and write on the back what the occasion was, or is...

    Which fees for spousal sponsorship?

I was looking through the fees section in order to not hit a final road bump when we're about to pay, and I'm a little confused as to which apply to us. I'm sponsoring my wife - no dependents or anything else, straightforward case. Do we go with: Spouse or common-law partner in Canada class...

A few short questions for outland sponsorship

For the sponsor's checklist, out of the 5 items, I'll send across a photocopy of my passport. I'm assuming it's only one of those 5 that needs to be sent? In that case, the photocopy of my citizenship certificate will go along with country-specific documents.
