Any PRs from visa exempt countries - were you asked for PR card when flying?

The conversation is not about mandatory ETAs for PRs, this is about PRs from visa exempt countries without PR cards. PRTD costs $50. Why wouldn't you pay $7 instead?

Well the cure for forgetfulness could to to make ETA for PRs a one-time authorization, same as PRTD. Basically replace PRTD with an ETA equivalent. And same as with ETA - if more proof or info is needed, it can be requested from the applicant whenever necessary. The affected number of people...

Any PRs from visa exempt countries - were you asked for PR card when flying?

Regardless of whether the PR kept to their RO or not, they will still be admitted to Canada. Sure it could make them easier to detect, I get the point, but what is the point of doing that at all for anybody who obtained PR recently, ie within the first xxx years from getting PR status for...

Any PRs from visa exempt countries - were you asked for PR card when flying?

The reality is that vast majority of those who wanted to "sneak" back into Canada can still do this through US, since we're talking about visa-exempt countries, with exception of only a few differences in visa exemptions between US and Canada. The option to evaluate and catch is still there at...

Why would they need to check RO if you got a new passport? They don't do it now, so why would they need to introduce that new process? But in general, yes, I agree, CIC would need to spend more money to maintain a parallel process to ETA, where PR status is linked to passports. While trivial...

    Help! Marriage certificate

If you get police certificate, you could try to send that + the religious wedding certificate as is, inquiring if this is sufficient. This might buy you some more time while you're in the process of resolving the civil certificate issue.

Any PRs from visa exempt countries - were you asked for PR card when flying?

We still do not know whether PR status is linked to passport the same way ETA confirmation is linked to passport, hence the reason for the original question. As of yet nobody really confirmed having a PR and trying to check in with a passport only without admitting a PR status (except for...

The airline cannot see if you have an ETA. The way it works - the airline submits traveler details through the IAPI system and the system returns either "board" or "do not board" response.

They cannot ask for a different document simply based on not having a printed ETA - printed ETA is not required, as per CIC.

Any PRs from visa exempt countries - were you asked for PR card when flying?

That is the question we're trying to resolve. As CIC says, you do not need to have ETA in hand, only passport (in case of non-PR).

Any PRs from visa exempt countries - were you asked for PR card when flying?

That is logical, however, it's not the ETA that is used to travel. It is the passport, to which ETA is linked, that is used to validate whether you are allowed to check in. The question here is whether PR status is linked to passport in the same way that ETA is linked to passport, and would...

Does anyone know the general timeline - what happens after VO signs off on relationship verification and gets police certificates. What happens next in the process? Does it get transferred to Mississauga for final eligibility decision and other approvals, or there are more steps involved?

    Landing in Canada

One way ticket is OK, and seems that transiting through China for a Philippine citizen is fine as long as the person not coming out of the airport. The right place to confirm this 100% is through Chinese consulate or embassy in Philippines. 600CAD is a really good price, if you can get that.
