May 12th applicant - finally got through to someone at the call center, and the agent said that since the processing time has passed, she will send an email today to the agent(s) working on our file and they will contact us directly. (I am guessing they'll just send us the SA email). Fingers...

Are we supposed to go off of the current "May 4" or "57 days" before we call? I ask because my husband is going to call CIC tomorrow, since it will be 58 days. Our app was received on May 12.

No need to worry - "decision made" is almost always a good thing, (unless there is an obvious reason that your sponsor would not be approved) and you're receiving it at an expected time based on the processing times. Did you include an email address in your application? If you did but did not...

I would just put a sticky note on your FBI report mentioning that you're waiting for the "real" one from the FBI. Unfortunately, there is a slight difference. I ended up having to request a report directly from the FBI, after I already had a channeler report ready to submit to CIC.

When is the most strategic time in the application process to send in a police report once one as received AOR? Is it safe to send as soon as you have AOR? I want as little of a delay as possible.

Excuse my ignorance, but I thought that photocopies of marriage licenses/certificates were just fine according to the document checklist? Don't most people send in photocopies without hiccups, or are certified copies the norm?
