    Kiwi moving to Canada

Yes, that is all still valid. Maybe the wait times have changed a little bit (a month or two) but other than that is still good advice.

Common Law partner/Conjugal Partner visa questions

How do you know CIC is giving you a hard time for applying as common-law instead of getting married? Stuff like this worries me....

I'm sure he will find a job too we just have to see where. He is completing his PhD in Agriculture in the next couple months and is fluent in 3 languages (although French isn't one of them) so I know he will get a job somewhere, it just depends on finding who is looking for that at the right...

For those in Canada - Free help with applications

I don't think I already mentioned this and it might be useful for those putting together their applications. I know this won't be helpful to everyone (depending on where you are from/resources in your city) but it might help a couple people out there. When I called my family's lawyer to...

In the Niagara region, where my family is from, for 3-6 months depending on when our application is processed. Then we would like to do some fairly long-term traveling and then somewhere in Ontario - the GTA, the Niagara Region or Tri-cities area (Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo) depending on where...

No but I'm not worried. As long as it isn't happening for everybody except for us I'm not going to stress over it.

Wow, that is a pretty fast timeline from the details we were given! I'm happy we choose Rome. We had the choice between Rome (my partner is Italian) and Vienna because we are living in Berlin. When we applied the timeline was 13 months for both visa offices but we asked for advice on here...

Requirements for Moving To Canada After Approval

Correct me if I am wrong. But don't you just have to land before the visa expires and then you can return to the States in this case. So if it expires on June 30th, you can go for a short visit on June 15th "land" and do the paperwork and then return to the States and then come back to Canada...

    Kiwi moving to Canada

I'm not sure how you can get around the obstacles you are mentioning (I'm pretty new to all of this) but it seems like they are some pretty big ones and you might want to consider other options. What if you quit your job, sell your house etc and then things don't work out? For example: you...

    ROME OFFICE

Thanks Yaelloni for the update! I would love to know how long they take with his passport. Do they need everyone's passport? And did they say how long you have to submit your passport? Your application was with the Rome VO for about 6 months (which I think is a great time! Wooohooo!), and...

Spousal Sponsorship - No Status - Deportation

I sort of think the same.... Your only option now would be to contact a lawyer. But even then...

    ROME OFFICE

Ok, good to know no one else is getting AOR from the Rome office. I don't mind that they don't send them, I just don't want to be the only one without one. :) It doesn't say medicals received yet either but I might just be confused how ECAS sponsor vs. applicant works. As the sponsor I can...

Did anyone get an AOR from the Rome VO? I'm also wondering if on ECAS it says medicals received for everyone?

    Decision made?

Same here. AOR by email and SA by regular mail. I'm living in Europe and it took 10 calendar days for me to get the letter (from when it said decision made) and when I get mail from home it usually just takes 4 working days. So don't stress out too much.

    AOR and SA US Outland

I didn't apply through an American office but I don't think it would impact stage 1 approvals. AOR by email received March 8th. Update on ECAS that SA decision made on March 14th (although it said the decision was made on March 10th) Letter received (in the EU) on March 18th. I have read...

CONFUSED FIANCE STUCK IN MAJOR LIFE DECISION

Also before you fiance can sponsor you - you need to prove you are in a common-law relationship (living together for at least 12 months) or married. Since your last posts in 2012, it seems your fiance has been living in Canada for the past couple years and not with you. So you either need to...

    Long Distance Relationship

I also think your best option is with a working holiday visa. They are easy to get and then she can work and live in Canada so you can establish common-law partnership. Here's the link. It seems the places are gone for this year already though...

Question(s) about outland sponsorship of English bf

We didn't send an IMM 5406 (we don't have any kids) and they asked us for this form before they would process our applications. I would fill out an IMM 5406 for your partner and submit it to be on the safe side.

    ROME OFFICE

I don't know about this. I think everything happens at different times depending on who is working on your case. I got my AOR by email on March 8th (Saturday), no change in eCAS until Friday, March 14th (and I check every day). On Friday, it said a decision had been made on March 10th. Got...
