    OCI process

For new OCI applicants , just a tip that may save you another trip to BLS. They (Brampton BLS atleast ) now ask you to upload the relevant documents on the ministry site as well, before you goto BLS (After you done with Part A and B you will see this option on the site to upload OCI...

How fast can you apply for passport after completing oath?

They dont care where references live , although recommend they are in same country to make things faster. For references, you don't even need their signatures so just add names and other details. (cannot be close family)

India - OCI Query - Marriage certificate

I believe the joint affidavit mentioned on BLS is in lieu of "spouse name in passport" and supports marriage certificate. doubt if it can work in lieu of the marriage certificate requirement. There must be some sort of sworn statement that may work; not sure if it would just be easier to get...

India - OCI Query - Marriage certificate

Do you mean you don't have a marriage certificate at all ? from India /canada or wherever?. Not sure then how you could prove the marriage for this prupose. If you live close to one of the Bls offices might be worth going there to ask, or even better try the consulate. It doesn't matter whether...

    OCI process

Thanks GJP, that's what I was worried about , they might keep her passport for few days , so I guess I will apply after my US trip. If you are certain about #2, I will just skip the Notary step.. Btw, is this some joint photo to be taken ? I was just thinking of affixing 2 individual psprt...

India - OCI Query - Marriage certificate

Wish they would make it a bit simpler. I am in same boat although yet to apply. I think submitting marriage certificate should be ok (MEA stamp seems overkill), but never know for sure. If you end up going to consulate do let us know what they say. Are you applying for family or just yourself ?

New Canadian Citizen -US travel (have valid I94)

Thanks Montrealia, exactly my concern "better to avoid doing things that are out of the ordinary at the port of entry". I read somewhere folks have surrendered I94 at Pearson airport US customs area. I will probably do that and avoid unnecessary questions at port of entry during my trip. sending...

    NEW DELHI - 2014 APPLICANTS

It seems normal sunny (assuming "received" means received by NDVO and not cpc canada). I got my AOR in 2 weeks of file transfer. AOR just says NDVO has recd application and asks to submit Pcc and landing fees if not already done.
