FYI you don't get the PR card right away, it can take 4-6 weeks to receive, depending on the timelines posted by CIC. Right now its at 44 days: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp

Exactly, though in ECAS on the applicant side they show "started processing Oct 14" almost a week before we got the email confirmation. May depend on the Visa office, I think Lima doesnt have as many applications so it may move faster.

Just checked with my husband if he got an email from the Visa office and he said yes :o haha even though I was the one obsessively checking my inbox. The good thing is that we have AOR2 as of October 20, yay!

I was thinking that too, but then imagined the wording would be different (i.e. why say the file was transferred to Lima office if they are the one sending it). Plus they are both signed by CIC Case Processing Mississauga. The in process date on the applicant side says Oct 14: We received X...

That's not it actually, because both are addressed to me, and sent to my email address. Everything else is identical, except the date.

The strangest thing - just got another SA letter from CIC (Mississauga) almost 10 days after the original letter, saying exactly the same thing (approval + transfer file to Lima office). Has anyone encountered something like that? I just hope that our SA date is still Oct 16, and that they did...

Hmm, I guess Great West Life has a different policy. Though not sure how it would work, as even a simple doctor's visit requires you present OHIP (and as far as I know they don't charge companies for this).

From my work they said specifically that my husband would need to have OHIP coverage before they would be able to add him to my benefits (Manulife). Maybe if you don't say that he doesn't, they add it anyway? Not sure if thats a loophole..

Thanks Kangamoose! That's helpful. He currently has travel insurance purchased in Lima but its only valid for the next 30 days (it activates when he leaves Lima, and we just came back from a trip there). But he is so accident prone that I really want to get him some type of coverage beyond that...

We now have a third line in ECAS that says they started to process our application Sept 29. The timing was updated again this morning, so it's saying 60 days for SA - based on that I expect to receive ours by the end of next week.
