You are supposed to advise CIC of important status changes. A new child would I think be about the most important status change there is, so yes, you should let them know. And congratulations. :D

I wouldn't be concerned if I were you. You've got your SA and the file has been transferred. The important thing has happened. A database not being updated in a timely fashion isn't important.

Can my wife bring her cellphone?

Has anyone been able to bring their cellphone from a cellular network in Asia (in this case the Philippines) and have it work here? Even if the cellphone is unlocked, are not the cellular frequencies that are used different there than here?

    Syrian coming to Canada

Re: Syrian refugees coming to Canada So apparently the new govt. plan is that 900 refugees per day will start arriving here December 1st. A CIC rep. said to local farmers here that applications for foreign worker visas would be delayed due to personnel being needed to process the refugees...

Wife and I are very happy. Finally got AOR Email! :D ;D :D I think I am the last of the September applicants here, so everyone should now have their AOR and many already have their SA. Is there anyone that applied in September but is still waiting?

Where does CIC say we're supposed to get our AOR within a month? First I've heard of this. Which people? I don't recall anyone, let alone multiple people, getting SA in less than two weeks. From what I've seen six weeks for AOR and two months for SA seems to be typical.

Update / correction: I asked my wife for more details about her co-worker. Turns out there was a misunderstanding. The few weeks was only a portion of the process (expected to take a few months) NOT the entire process (in Manila).

I heard that CIC is saying that in order to process 25,000 Syrian refugees before the end of the year all other immigration paperwork is being put on hold. :( Farmers are not able to get new foreign workers or even renewals of work visas for workers that are already here. Has anyone else...

I know the 17 months listed on CIC website for Manila means 80% of cases are done in less than 17 months. My wife just told me that a work friend got her visa after it had been at Canadian embassy in Manila for only one month. Could it actually go that fast? It would be a great Christmas...
