When can I apply for BOWP / is AOR from OINP enough?

I came to Canada a few months ago on a NAFTA visa (closed work permit). Long story short, I hate my job, and want to begin searching for a new one. Unfortunately, I've discovered that it's very hard to get companies to sponsor you (even with ow easy an BOWP is) so I am looking into a BOWP...

CELPIP Re-evaluation - odds of success?

I have never, ever heard of this happening. I suspect they give you the higher of the two scores, not the later.

OINP - do I need to work in Ontario, or only live there?

A few months ago, I moved to Ontario (on a NAFTA visa) to work for a company. Unfortunately, I found out that the job I took isn't a good fit for me and am starting to job-hunt. One of the options I'm considering is working remotely for a US-based company (I'm a US citizen) while living in...

OINP/ Ontario PNP sent in Jan 2016, Lets connect Here

I sent one on 5/27, and did not receive a response, so I sent another on 6/10. They just replied to the 6/10 today with that message

    CELPIP Test Re-evaluation Chances

There's a similar thread I started about 6 months ago. Tl;dr no one has ever reported the score going down, and about 50% of people report a score increase, so it's worth trying.

OINP/ Ontario PNP sent in Jan 2016, Lets connect Here

If anyone wants to add my info to the sheet, I hand-delivered my application to OINP on 1/22/16, am FSW, and just received (today) the "We have reviewed and accepted your application. We have now put your application in the queue for further processing." this morning.

    OINP received today

Personally, I would go for the OINP nomination. Either the draw scores go down and you get it either way, or they don't and you need this. Given how slow OINP is going, I feel like you won't waste anything except some time by applying - you can always withdraw your application.

Ontario - Closed until November 2016

With a CRS score of 370, you are likely not eligible for OINP anyway, so no point in waiting

Short landing in Toronto, planning to rent a car.

That too - I own a car and live downtown, and use it less than once a week.

Short landing in Toronto, planning to rent a car.

FYI, as someone that lives in Toronto, depending on where your AirBNB is and where you plan to go, having a car may be more of a liability than taking public transit and Uber. If you're going to be downtown I wouldn't bother.

    CRS to 400 by October!

But even if they do not, there's going to be a steady stream of new applicants

    CRS to 400 by October!

I can't see how it can fall that much so quickly - there's going to be an immense backlog of applications in the 400-450 range (who have never gotten a draw, so there is a 1 year backlog) not to mention the 450-~470 people that aren't getting selected recently. It may fall over time, but unless...

Any US ppl have problem getting credit card/car insurance?

I had good US credit, but no Canadian credit. CIBC opened a newcomer account for me with no money and gave me a $5,000 unsecured credit card without issue - check them out.

Shouldn't you send both so you can claim 2 degrees and get more CRS points?

Coming on NAFTA visa - how does it work?

Yes. Two things: The offer letter needs to hit some specific points, so I would recommend that a lawyer draft it. It's not a complicated letter (only 2 pages) but it does need to hit some key points, so I would say a typical offer letter won't be sufficient. The employer also has to fill...

    CELPIP OR IELTS

I took the CELPIP over IELTS just because it was easier to schedule (and I think cheaper). I ended up with 12 on all parts except for writing, where I ended up with a 10. I prefer it because it's on a computer (I hate hand-writing) and also given it's recorded on the computer, you can request...
