DECEMBER 2015 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

You do not need proof of a minimal income to sponsor your spouse. If you're employed, you need to provide employment and income info. If you're unemployed, you need to show how you plan to support yourself and your spouse (savings, letters from family who will support you financially etc.). They...

Spousal Sponsorship From US: Work Visa? Inland Vs Outland?

What scylla said. Look up some threads on here and you'll see that everyone that can, applies outland. It is much faster. You can either suck it up for a few months and wait for your outland application to get processed (most American spouses get it within 6-8 months and some on this board got...

Both of us feeling overwhelmed and worried, please help

Is your case pretty simple (i.e. no red flags)? If so, it really won't take 2 years. It only takes this long when the case is complicated or the file goes missing. If you look at the spreadsheet, you'll see that most people (Americans applying outland) get it within less than 1 year. Some people...

Both of us feeling overwhelmed and worried, please help

He doesn't need to apply for a visitor's visa. Americans don't need visa to enter Canada. It's much faster for your guys to apply outland. It should take less than 1 year. Some people get it within 6 months. Just make sure he doesn't overstay his 6 months while he's waiting for his PR and...

moving from US to Canada with a US PR/Green card holder (spouse)

Yes, it's possible to apply for a Green Card again if you still qualify (i.e. are married to American citizen). You need to surrender your Green Card when you move out of US though. Good thing your husband didn't get into more trouble. I've heard many horror stories; people were treated very...

moving from US to Canada with a US PR/Green card holder (spouse)

What passport does she have? Not sure if American Green card gives her the right to visit Canada. After all, she needs to show a passport at the border. Depending if she comes from a visa-exempt country or not, she'll either be ok to travel to Canada or not. If you apply inland, she can apply...

CIC has changed the way you view processing times

They probably just want to cover their butt, so that they don't get complaints and their stats look good ("oh, look, all/most of the applications get processed within the posted time frame"). Then again, this is typical for a government institution. When I worked at the government, we would tell...

    Please help,problems with husband

Since you have just moved here 2 months ago, you are unable to apply for a divorce in Ontario. In order to obtain divorce in Ontario, you must have lived in Ontario for at least 12 months before you apply for a divorce. You also need to be separated for at least 12 months, unless you want to...

For us, it was just over 3 months. Sent the request on July 22 and they mailed the clearance on October 27.

    Application without FBI clearance..

Shouldn't be problem. CIC knows FBI clearance takes forever these days. Just write an explanation letter and send the FBI clearance once available.

DECEMBER 2015 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

Gosiu, Jezeli martwisz sie, ze CIC nie zaadresuje prawidlowo Twojej korespondencji, dolacz zalacznik z dokladnym adresem (tak aby widzieli, co ma byc w ktorej linijce itd). Przy rubryce z adresem napisz "see attached" albo nawet zrob mala notatke. Powodzenia!

DECEMBER 2015 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

There was discrepancy in address, apparently. My husband is staying in Canada as a visitor and we put his American address as his residential address and my Canadian address as his mailing address. Apparently, that was confusing for CIC.

    Application returned - help!

Update. I worked my butt off and managed to re-submit the application yesterday. I'm sick as a dog but I really really wanted to send it before Christmas (otherwise it would be on my mind over the holidays). So, the wait begins...again haha Hopefully all goes smooth this time!

    Application returned - help!

I know, right? I wonder how that actually works in practice. Let's say we want to travel abroad (since we can because it's an outland application). We take a copy of the application just in case we need to show it at the border. The officer sees Canadian address as residential address (as...
