    the fact that you're not working right now shouldn't be a problem as long as you submitted a reference letter regarding your previous job.However if you didn't get any update on your status since 2008,you should contact your visa office because it's taking too long.

    abelkwh,i have been living in the US for 12 years now,i have a bachelor degree from the US,i'm fluent in french and english, however i'm senegalese therefore english or french are not my mother tongue and i'm taking the IELTS, i'll recommend you to do the same.

    if you're pursuing a master's,that means you have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree. i believe that's at least 20 points
