Hi i am worried. I have over 15 years experience in my field of work. But left my job three years back to care for ailing mother. Currently am not working. My case is in process. Updated docs were sent in Oct 2008. Will this pose a problem/be a ground for rejection of my application. Please advice.

the fact that you're not working right now shouldn't be a problem as long as you submitted a reference letter regarding your previous job.However if you didn't get any update on your status since 2008,you should contact your visa office because it's taking too long.
