Please can someone shed any light?!

The CIC has a thing that when your application is missing something, they will wait until it is complete and then will start to review the case. So, if you handed your application in March, and they give you a letter in July, means they were ready to process your case in July, but because it...

Hey, Congrats to FS. Just curious, when you guys have the address change, is it to an address in Canada? Because both our addresses are based in Hong Kong and obviously, we live together, thus having the same address. So how does that work?

Hong Kong girl marrying a Canadian boy

This is very true, in our case, we are close to one year before getting the visa. (keeping our fingers crossed) and this is because we did not do everything that was asked for in the application, such as medical report, police reports, etc. These factors weight in the period of time it took for...

Non-resident Canadian, how do I apply for PR for my wife?

In actual fact, when you leave Canada, there is no immigration to go through. Your only worry,if any, should be when you return back to canada the second time around.

If I am not mistaken, there are two fees that needs to be paid. One initial fee along with the application submission, the second fee is when they are processing the visa, permanent resident fee. In our case, they asked for the second fee when they requested our passport.

    Opening a Bank Account

The banks are ok, if you are out of province, as long as you have id and an address. I would suggest getting the money to hkg first. a little bit of hassle but doable. then open an hsbc account in hkg. and then tell them your situation and since hsbc has a number of branches in vancouver, and...

i found that booking a round trip from Vancouver is always cheaper than booking a round trip from HKG. It is strange even with the taxes and everything. We usually book with CX and they usually have a good rate for going to an additional location via hkg so, with a return ticket to places...

My wife is a Hong Kong Passport holder, which is also visa exempt to get into Canada for visiting purposes, and yet, have been asked for the passport. We believe the actual Permanent Visa is physically put on a page of the passport.

Well, in HKG, and in particular, in my case, when they sent the passport request, they asked for the permanent resident fee and the passport. They do mention it will take a minimum of 20 working days to issue the visa, if approved.

Hello Canadian - Singaporeans, OMG, you guys are great! You guys actually get to personally submit the passport, here in HKG, we cannot even get close to the door, so-to-speak. "Commercial Couriers ONLY!" Then, you guys get the link to know how long the visa takes, 3 days!?! That's...

    Visa fees

yes. basically, there are two fees, one for handing in the application at the start, then another fee when they issue the visa, (right of permanent resident fee). so, for the fees, you're good to go!

    Sponsoring Sister

I would definately go for the domestic helper route. The application time is much shorter, and if she wants, can also work, and can apply to becoming a PR after 3 years.

I think you're fine, you just have to bite the bullet and wait. We have never sent an email to neither ontario nor hk visa office. Even sending our passport, (which i tried to deliver by hand two days ago, but was rejected at the door saying "it must be a commercial courier"... "but my...

Having a look back at our application, and the checklist and everything that we sent, we didn't see the area where the medical report must be handed in with the application. Further to this, we always assumed that medical was done when requested.

No, we did not send the medical report with the application form, it was requested when the application was transferred to and by the Hong Kong visa office.

Did they ask for your medical report so soon after application? We were asked for medical afterwards, our was almost 6 months after our application from the HK visa office. I have been back to hkg since '99, a non-resident of canada, however, and, and my wife is also a hkg resident. We just...

Passport requested, should we get the US visitor visa before or afterwards?

Hi, My wife has an US visa for visiting the states. She has a job and thus, has a 10 year visitor visa to the states, and it's up for renewal, I am not sure how difficult it may or may not be to get one if and when she is approved for PR. Now, we have been asked by the HK Visa Office to...
